The reason we got beat tonight is not this lads felt ,But ffs 3 from from 3 balls and the end wtf,How the fook is he getting a game , are you for real?
Jones came in at 168/6 with 7 balls left 20 runs needed off 7 balls. With Mitchell at the other end going at more than a run aball. His job was to give Mitchell the strike. He could have kept Mitchell off strike, and chewed up all 7 balls.
Plenty else going on e.g.
Captain managed 7 of 13 balls.
Surrey 25 off last two overs Lancs 15.
Lancs 94/1 off 10 overs, Surrey 93/1

I was surprised Hartley didn't come in with seven balls to go the best option was for the new batsmen to hit a boundary and leave the last over to Mitchell. However it was pretty much a lost cause by thar stage.

Am i for real, The lad cant get the ball of the square Fullstop. I know, I agree with a lot of what you say, but you do seem to have something against Rob Jones. As you said, he wasn't to blame at all yesterday, but you still had a pop.

I think Larrys frustration is really aimed at management than the player himself. I think we all know hes not suited to T20 cricket.
Lancs have some squad decisions to make. A lot of home grown have left down the years to go to other counties and flourish. 2 more leaving in Parky and Lamb. Vilas seems spent. CdG has been a poor signing. Mahmood has injury troubles. We don't have a quality spinner with Parky gone. Far too many play IPL and for England and don't seem to have their heart in it for English domestic cricket. Anderson could be coming to the end of his career. Lancs have to get value for money for the players in the squad. I don't know how it all works with money from the ECB for England players or from the IPL but squad management needs improving, IMO.

Sad state of affairs our team is in . Btw for me wells should of opened with buttler with salt coming in 4 .. Never has been. So he will play one day cup as the squad is short of players, and probably this is his first maybe second season in the blast (out of 8). Only playing due to Jennings injury. I doubt he beleives it himself more than he can do a job. And don't forget he and Bohannon score runs for fun in the 2s.
I think they pick the 11 by picking the stars, then the bowlers and then fill up to 11 with the best fielders plus maybe a spare bowler.
So: Livingstone, Buttler, Salt, Mitchell, CdG or Vilas, Wells, Croft, Hartley, Wood, all in unless injured.
That gives a top 7 in whatever order and pretty much 20 overs (Wood, Wells, Hartley, Mitchell some of Livingstone maybe CdG) Who gets the other two places: Aspinwall - untried or Blatherwick, Bell or Jones, Bailey or Parkinson generally make up the bloated 16 man squad. Go for one bowler and one bat. Parkinson out of favour so play Bailey and anyway captain gets too confused with too many spinning bowling options. Jones or Bell? On fielding? and / or risk averse selection on seniority by Chapple (it's the Lancashire way)? Would youngsters get you more runs? Not necessarily as they would be batting at 9 or 10 at best. Would they save runs in the field? Not compared to Jones. But safe pair of hands will take a catch or two. Do they fit? You can see their thinking.

Jones is a decent middle order batter in 1st CC and an outstanding fielder (and used to do a bit of leg spin) but, as we all agree, T20 is not his game. However, his repeated selection has been a symptom, not a cause, of what has been a disappointing T20 campaign - not just because we failed to make Finals Day but because of the disjointed way we have played in too many matches. From both management (irrational team selection) and captain (tactically clueless) it has too often looked as if we had no settled plan and were making it up as we went along.
Yes, we have been unlucky with injuries to Jennings, Gleeson and Mahmood but injuries do happen in cricket and there needs to be a better fall-back plan than wasting money on Colin de Grandhomme. I think the two really significant factors have been (a) the club's quarrel with Parkinson, about which no-one is saying anything and which resulted in the virtual collapse of our spin attack and (b) the parachuting into a winning team of players from the IPL at the expense of team unity. Of the three IPL players, only Buttler eventually justified his selection and it took several games before he adapted to English conditions. Salt has achieved only one good score (but tbf has been a real asset in the CC). Livingstone has been a waste of space: batting like a tail-ender, bowling mostly pies and captaining with a rare degree of incompetence.
Will Chapple and co admit their errors or will they blame it all on bad luck? No prizes for guessing the correct answer!

Whilst clearly not in disagreement, this made me smile whilst watching Livingstone's home county at Furness today, just down the road from his school and family home I believe) although he played for the town's other club.

Excellent 111 from Rob Jones today, looked like we might chase down 430 at one stage and then almost saved the game.

Really pleased for him hope he builds on this and has a good run in the championship and the 50 over comp like he did last year.
Plays like wearing the red rose is important to him so it's nice when he shows what he can do.

I too am pleased for him and would love him to go on a good run, but it's still three centuries in eight seasons!
