Ollie Pope gets first century of the season, one personal disappointment is the lack of coverage in the written press even the DT only reference is a two line thumb snail score card, sad days

You are quite right about the lack of coverage. Thank goodness for Cricinfo. I can't see anything online in the Times, Telegraph or Guardian (but this is only MCC v the champion county – of course, if I want to know about David Warner's return or the Mankading of Jos Buttler, I'm flooded with info).

Surrey collapsed to 520 all out Pope 251 Smith 127, MCC 178-0 at the moment Rhodes and Sibley boosting their averages. Peter Trego will retire from the four day game after this match as for press coverage it got a paragraph today the cheating in the pub game got three columns

I see rain won in the end in the Champion County game.
Pope is a serious talent though isn't he, recently turned 21 and already has 6 FC 100's including this 251 and averaging 54. Hopefully he won't go the way of Hameed after his brief England spell (doesn't look like doing so).

I don't think he was necessarily picked too early, but picking him and batting him at 4, when he had never batted higher than 6 in FC cricket, was an utterly ludicrous decision.
If he had been batting at 4 for Surrey you would still like him to batting at 6 when starting out in Test Cricket, not the other way around!
