Northants win so likely both they and Gloucester will go up they play each other next week however Glamorgan may sneak in with a chance they look like beating Leicester at the moment. Top division Essex 12 points ahead of Somerset they meet next week at Taunton

Hampshire recoveries in 1st innings from 24/5 to 196, and in 2nd 45/6 to 226” Somerset used our stupid defensive tactics when Vince was in with Abbott. Eight back on the boundary. General agreement on Somerset Forum that it was a disaster and always is ; it just tells the batsman you’ve given up getting him out. Vince just milked the strike as I’ve seen so often and the fielding team wilted. Not bowling Bess was also strange in the second innings. If they were going to leave out the in form ( with both bat and ball) Jamie Overton for a spinner, surely you bowl him. It isn’t surprising that young men captaining teams haven’t realised that but really coaches and directors of cricket should. |
