The countdown is now on for the 2019 WC in England with New Zealand announcing their 15 man squad today; on paper they have a pretty strong group.
England still favourites with the bookies but Australia have suddenly found form (inevitably) just in time.
India have an excellent side of proven winners too.
I don't think England have ever, or will ever have a better chance of winning it, but it is still a long way from guaranteed. Looks like Archer will be given a trial run in the Pakistan series next month, with the rest of the squad looking nailed on.
My 15 would be:-
Roy Bairstow Root Morgan Buttler Stokes Moeen Woakes Archer Rashid Wood
Hales Willey Plunkett T Curran

Ireland v West Indies is on BBC red button at the moment if anyone is cricket starved. I think there is also some cricket on Channel 5 later though no doubt it won’t be the type to appeal to me! Have a superb snooker final going on anyway

ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, Bristol Afghanistan 207 (38.2 overs): Najibullah 51, Cummins 3-40, Zampa 3-60 Australia 209-3 (34.5 overs): Warner 89*, Finch 66 Australia won by seven wickets Scorecard; Table; Schedule David Warner led holders Australia to a routine seven-wicket win against Afghanistan with an unbeaten 89 at the start of their World Cup defence.
Chasing a below-par 208, Warner steered his side to victory with 91 balls to spare after captain Aaron Finch helped set the tone with 66 off 49.
Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa took three wickets apiece as Afghanistan were bowled out for just 207.
Najibullah Zadran (51) impressed, however, with some powerful strokeplay.
Australia, who came into this tournament in resurgent form with overseas series victories against India and Pakistan, have now won nine one-day internationals in a row.
The last time that happened was during their victorious 2015 World Cup campaign; a run which began with a 275-run win against Afghanistan.
ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, Cardiff Sri Lanka 136 all out (29.2 overs): Karunaratne 52*, Ferguson 3-22, Henry 3-29 New Zealand 137-0 (16.1 overs): Guptill 73*, Munro 58* New Zealand won by 10 wickets Scorecard; Table; Schedule New Zealand's superb bowling display saw them dismantle a fragile Sri Lanka and open their World Cup campaign with a dominant 10-wicket win in Cardiff.
After being put in to bat, Sri Lanka collapsed to 136 all out in 29.2 overs, with New Zealand fast bowlers Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson taking three wickets each.
Only captain and opener Dimuth Karunaratne resisted, carrying his bat for 52 not out.
Black Caps openers Martin Guptill (73 not out) and Colin Munro (58 not out) raced to their target in just 16.1 overs in aggressive yet composed fashion.
Kane Williamson's side also impressed in the field in a convincing victory to begin their bid to go one better than losing to Australia in the 2015 final.
The manner of their defeat reinforces expectations that a limited Sri Lanka side will struggle in this tournament and they now face a tough match against Afghanistan on Tuesday.
ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, The Oval Bangladesh 330-6 (50 overs): Mushfiqur 78, Shakib 75 South Africa 309-8 (50 overs): Du Plessis 62, Mustafizur 3-67 Bangladesh won by 21 runs Scorecard; Table; Schedule Bangladesh stunned South Africa to start their World Cup campaign with a fine 21-run victory at The Oval.
Bangladesh made 330-6 - their highest one-day total - with Mushfiqur Rahim scoring 78 and Shakib Al Hasan 75 in front of a passionate crowd strongly in their favour.
The pair put on 142 for the third wicket and, although both fell in the final 15 overs, Mahmudullah helped power his side to the highest total of the tournament with an unbeaten 46 off 33 balls.
South Africa, who were sloppy in the field, lost crucial wickets as they rarely threatened to complete the highest World Cup chase in history.
Opener Quinton de Kock fell to a shambolic run-out early on, captain Faf du Plessis was bowled for 62 and Rassie van der Dussen was dismissed for 41 in the 40th over.
The Proteas still had slim hope with three overs left, JP Duminy at the crease and 44 needed - but he played on off Mustafizur Rahman to depart for 45.
The defeat means South Africa have lost their opening two matches in the competition, having been beaten by England in the opener on Thursday.

Apparently raging favourites to win tournament lose to Pakistan despite tons by Root and Buttler in the chase possibility of Morgan getting another ban due to a slow over rate, cannot afford any more slip ups
