Possible Starting X1
Jennings Davies Hameed Maxwell Vilas Jones Guest Bohannon Bailey Onions Anderson
Assuming Jimmy is available. Batting is crying out for Liam Livingstone to return sooner rather than later

Davies retired hurt with no comment from the club Mahmood not selected on either the uae tour or the students game The club admit to an injury list of Bailey, Gleeson, Lamb, Lester, Hurt and Parkinson but with no details of length of time out.
Probably as you suggest but with Footitt playing rather than Bailey. If Davies retired hurt as more than a precaution Croft will probably play (unless the club see the need to give someone from Nottinghamshire more practice).

Four day forecast - chilly but dry and mostly sunny. We're currently bottom on zero points (!) having missed the first round, which is a shame as that round had decent weather too, grrr. Don't understand why, if there are even numbers in the division, teams have to miss out occasionally.

Is it just my lack of technical ability or is there bollock zero about it on the official website? Understandable; the start of the season has probably caught them by surprise.

Good to see Davies has recovered from last week's retirement but a shame Bailey is missing still. No news of Mahmood?
Interesting to see them go with Guest ahead of Croft.
You would think it will be between Guest and Parry for who misses out. Given the conditions and time of year I would think Maxwell can do the spinners job so go with the extra batsman.
Almost time!

I don't want to appear to be the only person who has noticed the absence of anything meaningful on their website

I was clearly half asleep when I posted this morning; I didn't notice Bailey was in the 13, and I didn't realise the 13 was a 13 and not a 12!
Anderson takes the first wicket of the season.

Well this isn't the best of starts. We put them on what looks a perfect wicket; and just the one down, and looking through the team sheet not sure who our bowlers 4 and 5 will be....Maxwell and Jennings? (!!). Rather have had a spinner in there even if it's Parry.

Bohannon is a decent option and Maxwell is a more than capable spinner.
Looking like they will be just 1 down at lunch though which is far from ideal after inserting them, and unleashing Anderson, Onions and Bailey...

Three down now, Bailey has 2 of them. If we can shift Malan before tea, and one after, then putting them in might be justifies. But i wonder if it was a negative insertion as Vilas knows our batting too well??

Good final session of bowling sees Middlesex 9 down at the close.
No Davies for the 2nd and 3rd sessions as he injured his right hand again fielding in the 1st so Guest kept wicket after lunch until stumps.
