making his championship debut for Surrey today - batting at 9 (such are their riches)
wonder how long it will be before he returns up North either back to Lancashire or maybe to join his brother at Durham.

His girlfriend won't worry as his bank balance swells career will only go backwards

"Does well against Yorkshire (again) maiden 5/for in first class cricket?" Apparently, someone on Yorks website said all bad batting, non deserved!

Watched quite a bit of Surrey v Somerset today on YouTube as always prefer a balanced match to a one sided one. Interesting to hear how highly commentators spoke of Jordan Clark and how he is a captain’s dream, always prepared to put his back into his bowling for long spells. I don’t like seeing people leave us to fail and was pleased to hear this.

Championship medal for him ; I for one I’m glad he’s stuck two metaphorical fingers up to the spiteful Allott who said on Clark’s departure. “ I wish him luck . He ’ll need it”

It was typical of Allott to say that. Lack of class.
Clark moved to London as his girlfriend had a good job down there I think. He has developed into a very good cricketer who has played a big role in his team winning the title. Bowls the hard overs in the middle with the old ball and gets good late order runs.
Some players take years to reach their potential. Croft for example is so much better now than in his twenties. Chapple was the same. Maybe all those who say Rob Jones should go will be proved wrong.
Although less celebrated than Hameed and Davies out of the three players that left us Clark is the one we could most use right now. What do people think?

I think you're right, I don't think we miss Davies at all and we've effectively replaced Hameed, class player though he is, with two quality openers. As an aside it's not difficult to see Jennings and Hameed opening for England before very long. I've said for a long time that Jordan Clark is a big miss for Lancashire. Quality all rounders don't some along very often and that's what he is, can bat 7 and as above, really good bowler. He'd walk into our team in any format. I was interested to hear Mark Church, the Surrey commentator, say that Jordan Clark would be the first name he'd put on a Surrey team sheet, high praise indeed given the talent they have at the Oval.

Good post as usual OE. I would love to be wrong but I think Jennings and Hameed opening in Australia could get ugly.

I thought it was a shame when Jordan Clark left. I didn't know about his girlfriends career in London. At the time I thought it was a strange decision on cricketing grounds because he was competing with the Curran brothers plus Rikki Clarke for a first team place. It is great to see him make a success of the move and he is definitely missed here.
If he had stayed I wonder if we would have signed Luke Wood. Similarly if Davies had stayed I doubt we would have signed Phil Salt.

Having said that I hope he doesn't do well tomorrow 🙂

Jordan Clark was just the sort of player that our T20 team was missing this season. An all rounder that can bat with a good strike rate. Balderson will likely take up the all rounder role in the 4 day and 50 over team, but doesn't have the power hitting that you need to be a t20 number 7.
