v All to rare visitors to the citadel of accumulating money, a big welcome to Sussex by the Sea, it is our only meeting this season in Division 2 due to the utter farcical arrangements of playing some sides once. At the moment Sussex are fourth having won two matches and are on 99 points 35 behind us. They have recently signed Chopra from Essex on a three match loan period, he should play against us. Not many star names Luke Wright tends to play mainly one dayers, add into that Archer and Chris Jordan and highly rated Phil Salt. Gone are the days of Suttle, Oakman, Parks, Dexter and the Nawab of Pataudi from days gone by, Lancs down to bare bones in the seam department for this one, no Anderson and Mahmood abdominal strain, Bailey knee and Anderson ECB resting, speaking of the ECB which Divs decided to schedule a four day game to coincide with the World Cup final. Will be there Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Interesting that the BBC report mentions these words: ".... although spinner Matt Parkinson is now fit for selection again." which have been completely missing from the Lancashire website.
Allott/Chapple/Gidney/whoever must think that they are working for the Secret Service or do they simply hold their administrative colleagues in contempt.

Doubt whether they will be worried jobs for the boys

Maybe it's not lack of news being provided by the cricket side of the club to the admin / marketing side maybe just their inability to put things onto the webite / twitter accont by the marketing website content team

13 man squad named for Sussex clash
Head Coach Glen Chapple has named a 13 man squad for Lancashire's Specsavers County Championship clash, starting tomorrow at Emirates Old Trafford.
Toby Lester returns to the squad after a loan spell at Warwickshire following injuries to fellow pace bowlers James Anderson (calf), Tom Bailey (knee) and Saqib Mahmood (abdominal). Liam Livingstone suffered a side strain in the game at Sedbergh School last week. He will miss the fixture against Sussex at Emirates Old Trafford and be re-assessed next week.

Not a big fan of Parry but after waiting so long for a game and getting five wickets, can’t help thinking he is being treated the Lancashire way.
I just like this club less and less almost by the day.

Play Parkie gets wickets Simples
Specsavers County Championship Division Two, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester (day one): Sussex 127: Salt 40; Parkinson 6-23, Maxwell 4-41 Lancashire 149-1: Davies 72, Jennings 53*; Rawlins 1-17 Lancashire (3 pts) lead Sussex (0 pts) by 22 runs Scorecard Spinner Matthew Parkinson took a career-best 6-23 as Lancashire skittled Sussex for 127 on day one of their Championship game at Old Trafford.
Along with fellow spinner Glenn Maxwell (4-41) Parkinson helped remove Sussex's last nine wickets for just 50 runs.
Lancashire opener Alex Davies was dropped on nought before going on to score 72 as the Red Rose reached 149-1 in reply.
The hosts lead by 22 runs with nine first-innings wickets remaining.
After winning the toss, Sussex openers Philip Salt (40) and Varun Chopra (32) put on an opening stand of 77, but only England white-ball all-rounder Chris Jordan (22) was able to also reach double figures for the visitors.
Lancashire responded well before Davies was caught behind off the bowling of Delray Rawlins shortly after tea, while skipper Keaton Jennings struck 53 not out as the Division Two leaders look for their fifth win of the season.

Not a big fan of Parry but after waiting so long for a game and getting five wickets, can’t help thinking he is being treated the Lancashire way. I just like this club less and less almost by the day. If the BBC interview of Chapple is accepted as true, rather than the official silence on the club website, Parkinson was not fit for the Northants match.
On commentary yesterday Allott mentioned Parkinson looking at his thumb, alluding to an injury but saying it looked ok. That could be the only reason why Parry was playing in the previous match.
In terms of selection, Parry may know that he will only play when there are more than a few injuries. He will also know that Morley and Hartley are often above in terms who the coach wants to see bowling.
Whilst I don't want to disrespect taking 5 wickets, I would expect that had we won, particularly if the win were due to Parry's wickets, there would have been a greater temptation to keep a winning side.
But can anyone see Parry and Croft rather than Parkinson and Maxwell taking 10/50 or 60 yesterday? The innings fell apart because two bowlers undermined the batsmen's fragile confidence with variation and enough (not excessive) spin. I'm not sure Parry would have done that.

Specsavers County Championship Division Two, Emirates Old Trafford (day two): Sussex 127: Salt 40; Parkinson 6-23, Maxwell 4-41 & 15-0 Lancashire 494-6 dec: Vilas 132*, Jones 88, Davies 72, Jennings 65, Maxwell 59; Beer 2-76 Sussex (1 pt) trail Lancashire (7 pts) by 352 runs with 10 wickets standing Scorecard Lancashire captain Dane Vilas hit an unbeaten 132 to help put his side in command against out-of-form Sussex.
Vilas was backed-up by half-centuries from Rob Jones (88) and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (59) as the Red Rose were able to declare on 494-6.
It gave the hosts a lead of 367 as they pressed on from an overnight 149-1 and put themselves in pole position to strengthen their promotion chances.
Sussex saw out four overs before stumps to reach 15-0 in their second innings.
The highlight for Lancashire was a first County Championship century of the season for Vilas.
But luckless England opener Keaton Jennings' hopes of adding to his overnight 53 were ended when he cut Mir Hamza very hard to backward point where Delray Rawlins clutched a brilliant one-handed catch high to his left.
Relive County Championship action as it happened Lancashire batsman Rob Jones:
"In the previous couple of games we didn't start as well as we wanted. But we wanted to come out and set the tone because we know how big the game against Sussex is.
"So to bowl them out as we did and then to bat long has been great and it's set us up to win this game.
"It was a different role in that I had to play a lot of spin. It was great to bat with Glenn Maxwell because he knows a lot about batting against spin and he's a very experienced cricketer."
Sussex all-rounder Delray Rawlins:
"It was a tough day for the boys. We knew when we turned up it wouldn't be easy but we stuck to it pretty well and hopefully we can bat on.
"We all know we haven't been scoring the runs we want. They stuck the ball in some pretty decent areas but hopefully the boys can prove a point. You never know what can happen in this great game.
"As for the catch off Jennings, luckily it stuck. Most people thought it had gone for four. But he hit it reasonably well and I think that's what helped it to stick."
MY VIEW
All too easy for the Red Rose today all batsman got runs apart from Hameed, Jennings would have got a lot more sadly got out to an outstanding catch by Rawlins, he stood there for about 30 seconds unable to comprehend he had been caught. Jones batted well and the Captain Fantastic scored an esy century. Looked a poor Sussex side, tomorrow will be my last day at Old Trafford until September suspect a tougher day tomorrow but we'll win
