previously played one T20 for Derbyshire (against Lancashire last year).  He's been out with a stress facture of the back for most of this year.  Agree he's a good cricketer.

Looks like it has been a very exciting end to the season with Ormskirk doing what they had to do but Bootle scraping through against bottom club Lytham. Think it would have needed a freak bonus point combination for Bootle not to have won, and whilst not everyone’s favourites, think they have deserved it for leading all the way.

Looks like an excellent knock by Sam Oldham ( 94 balls, 11 4s). Ben Aitchison and Will Porterfield both scored ducks and George Burrows 4. Tom Hartley 14-3-35-3.

As has been remarked before on Forum, George Lavelle seems to get a lot of low scores amongst very good ones. Today 1, and Tyler McGladdery 4.Tom Hartley 28 off 51 balls with 3 4s and a six.

A story of two former Lancashire Seconds and Cumberland openers , still both young and who have looked good players to me when I’ve seen them play in league cricket and and for Lancs seconds.Both have been very major players in the Premier League for a few years.

Will Hale has had a moderate season by his standards . Just one century but yesterday a vital 70 off 171 balls with 10 4s. Only significant support from the wicketkeeper captain Neil Williams , a good cricketer and one whom I’m very pleased for with this championship win as Bootle is a demanding place to captain.

Toby Lester 8-2-17-0. Steven Croft 3-0-11-2.

Ross Zelem has had an utterly wretched season in his first with Lytham. Has had a few recent twenties and thirties but yesterday a 15 ball 1. I really hope he comes good next season. You have to be a tough character to survive that feeling of individual performance letting down new team mates.

I am biased but they definitely got the best choice for number three. At league level, a complete batsmen who can do the opener job or stick the boot in on bowlers.

Strange batting order. Nikki Caunce would definitely but higher than the two slow left-arm bowlers

Three players completely dominated the voting in their respective categories leading us to confidently declare that the three most outstanding players in the Comp this century are John Armstrong, David Snellgrove and Marcus Sharp.

Carl Hey fought off Will Hale and Neil Rimmer to open the batting with John Armstrong, whilst Jimmy Wiesniewski and Andrew Clarke narrowly edged out Richard Hignett, Sion Morris and Gary Knight in some incredibly close voting for the other two batting places alongside David Snellgrove..

Will Purser and Neil Cross received the lion’s share of nominations in the All Rounder category with the Bootle man just getting the nod. James Cole was a steady pick to take the gloves whilst Ashraf Nawab and Tom Sephton ran away with their selection for the two vacant spinner slots.

Nicky Caunce was a strong second to open the attack with Marcus Sharp whilst the most open category of all saw Anthony Mulligan emerge as the 12th Man. David Snellgrove proved to be a popular choice to lead the team as Captain.

Probably won’t comment on here much this season as it’s all 45 over cricket I don’t care much for the limited over game. However, interesting to see that Lancashire, in its usual inward looking negative way withdrew all its players from league cricket today with a few hours notice. Almost like this ridiculous government.

Lancashire even stopped Rainford wicket-keeper Ellie Threlkeld from attending the match at Rainhill as a spectator. Her boyfriend also plays for Rainford and they were all heading back to Rainford Cricket club afterwards so no doubt she will have met him there. I’m sure there must be a logic in it somewhere.

This resulted in Bootle missing three players and Ormskirk gaining an interesting last minute “ cry on”.

Watched an excellent performance by young academy player Matthew Hurst for Newton Lee Willows at Rainford. For much of the game, I got my assessment wrong as Rainford had a real grip and it seemed that Hurst could hardly hit the ball off the square. He looks so young that he reminded me of myself at school as I hadn’t the timing or the strength to hit the ball anywhere other than if it was dropped short or I edged it.

One of the Rainford players actually said after about 15 overs “was that a shot?” But,allegedly, Hurst lacks nothing in self-confidence and he had the last laugh as he showed impressive patience holding the innings together for long enough for some good middle and late order hitting to turn the game.

Does make you wonder why he was playing as NLW’s wicketkeeper and Rainford’s Ellie Threlkeld wasn’t allowed to play by Lancs

A bit off topic but a proud day for my friend David Snellgrove, veteran of many years of Liverpool competition cricket captaining England over 50s today. All the family have gone down to Radlett with the exception of a daughter who is in Australia. His wife Helen, who knows nothing about cricket, was last seen reading a book and asking how long will it last.
