Last day of the league season.
Saturday September 21st
Looks like it has been a very exciting end to the season with Ormskirk doing what they had to do but Bootle scraping through against bottom club Lytham. Think it would have needed a freak bonus point combination for Bootle not to have won, and whilst not everyone’s favourites, think they have deserved it for leading all the way.
FORMBY 145 (36.5 overs) (Oldham 67*, Sutton 22; Lees 3-31, Hartley 3-35)
v ORMSKIRK 146-6 (35.5) (HJ Rankin 30*, ADJ Rankin 30, Hartley 28, Knight 24, Maddock 21*; Aitchison 3-28)
Result: Ormskirk won by 4 wickets
Toss: Formby
Points: Formby (2 bat pts + 3 bowl pts), Ormskirk (20 pts + 5 bowl pts)
Looks like an excellent knock by Sam Oldham ( 94 balls, 11 4s). Ben Aitchison and Will Porterfield both scored ducks and George Burrows 4. Tom Hartley 14-3-35-3.
As has been remarked before on Forum, George Lavelle seems to get a lot of low scores amongst very good ones. Today 1, and Tyler McGladdery 4.Tom Hartley 28 off 51 balls with 3 4s and a six.
Ben Aitchison 12-3-28-3 , George Burrows 12-2-28-2

v COLWYN BAY 185-9d (53) (Gidlow 78, Holtby 28, Jeewantha 24)
Result: Leigh won by 2 wickets
Toss: Colwyn Bay
Points: Leigh (20 pts + 4 bowl pts), Colwyn Bay (3 bat pts + 4 bowl pts)
Danny Lamb didn’t bowl but 38 off 29 balls with 6 4s and 1 6s. No Matt McKiernan for Leigh (maybe involved in big bash finals day? ) but Leigh’s win enough to relegate Colwyn Bay.
ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763099LYTHAM 162 (50.5) (Croft 54, Mason 42, M Cartmell 31; Jhangir Liaqat 4-37, Butterworth 3-59)
v BOOTLE 167-9d (59) (55 overs = 145-6) (Hale 70, Williams 34; Mulligan 3-25)
Result: Bootle won by 5 runs
Toss: Lytham
Points: Lytham (3 bat pts + 4 bowl pts), Bootle (20 pts)
A story of two former Lancashire Seconds and Cumberland openers , still both young and who have looked good players to me when I’ve seen them play in league cricket and and for Lancs seconds. Both have been very major players in the Premier League for a few years.
Will Hale has had a moderate season by his standards . Just one century but yesterday a vital 70 off 171 balls with 10 4s. Only significant support from the wicketkeeper captain Neil Williams , a good cricketer and one whom I’m very pleased for with this championship win as Bootle is a demanding place to captain.
Toby Lester 8-2-17-0. Steven Croft 3-0-11-2.
Ross Zelem has had an utterly wretched season in his first with Lytham. Has had a few recent twenties and thirties but yesterday a 15 ball 1. I really hope he comes good next season. You have to be a tough character to survive that feeling of individual performance letting down new team mates.
Croft 54 off 89 balls with 4 4s and 2 6s , Toby Lester a duck as Lytham fell just short
ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763109NORTHERN 153-5 (47.3) (Snow 46*, Browne 44*, Laker 23; Nawab 3-55)
v NEW BRIGHTON 152 (41.3) (Rowland 69, Clarke 23; C Snaylam 4-8, Sephton 4-68)
Result: Northern won by 5 wickets
Toss: New Brighton
Points: Northern (20 pts + 5 bowl pts), New Brighton (2 bat pts + 2 bowl pts)
Dan Houghton 8-2-20-1 in what has been a reasonable first season with Northern
ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763136ORRELL RED TRIANGLE 99 (31.4) (Jones 39, Everett 25; Qaiser Ashraf 4-45, Kelly 3-21)

Result: Rainhill won by 5 wickets
Toss: Orrell Red Triangle
Points: Orrell Red Triangle (2 bowl pts), Rainhill (20 pts + 5 bowl pts)
No County interest here to my knowledge
ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763161WALLASEY 128 (43.5) (Eagles 29, GJ Beaver 25, Cross 20; Keedy 5-30, Firth 3-22)
v SOUTHPORT AND BIRKDALE 90 (36.2) (Skelton 42; Cross 5-38)
Result: Wallasey won by 38 runs
Toss: Wallasey
Points: Wallasey (20 pts), Southport and Birkdale (5 bowling pts)
Gary Keedy 19-5-30-5 not enough as veteran Neil Cross spun Southport to defeat but Colwyn Bay’s defeat meant they are safe.
