Does anyone know who will be available for Lancashire whilst others are away playing batball?
Is it the members of that squad for tomorrow? Or is that misleading?

There are two more contracted players (Shah and Moulton) not in the 14 named for tomorrow’s match who might be considered. The rest are with England or the ECB experiment or both.

I am quite relieved really. I thought it might be worse. Obviously I don’t know what opponents will look like but Lancs could have a top eight made up of six who played yesterday alongside Bohannon and Bailey. Other than Hurt I don’t know the others but let’s see how they do.

Sussex side today lots of unfamiliar names though Archer played Expect more than a few will feature on Friday. It included a number of players who they have already given debuts to this year in the county championship: Orr, Ibrahim, Carter, Ward, Sarro and of course Lenham who has been making a name for himself, following his father and grandfather into the team, after debuting in the T20 at 16 years old.

LANCS WEBSITE REPORT
Asked to bat first by the National County side, Lancashire lost Josh Bohannon early before a mammoth second wicket stand of 157 between Jennings and Luke Wells put them in command.
The partnership included Wells taking spinner Matthew Siddall for four sixes in an over, on his way to a dominant 86 from just 63 balls.
Jennings reached his century soon after, but was bowled by Matthew Lowden off the very next delivery - his 103 coming from the same amount of balls faced with 10 fours and two sixes.
That brought the skipper Dane Vilas to crease, who muscled 82 from just 46 against the tiring Cumbrian bowling attack.
A couple of wickets fell towards the back end of the 50 overs; but there was still time for Rob Jones to reach Lancashire's fourth half-century of the innings, finishing unbeaten on 56 as the Red Rose posted an imposing 383-7.
Sam Dutton got the Cumbria reply off to a fast start; hitting four boundaries for his 17 off nine, but when he was dismissed by Jack Blatherwick (2/25), and quickly followed into the hutch by Nathan Waterston, the visitors looked to be in trouble at 25-2.
A gritty partnership followed between Michael Slack (38) and Gary Pratt (35) - famed for his Ricky Ponting run out in the 2005 Ashes - but when that was broken by Josh Bohannon (1/32), Lancashire were on their way to victory.
Wickets fell at regular intervals after that; Luke Wells the pick with 3/17, supported by Liam Hurt (1/20), Keaton Jennings (1/13) and Steven Croft (1/4).
Jennings completed his outstanding day with a long-distance run out of Watt for two, before Wells claimed Siddall to bowl the Cumbrians out for 174.

At least it was better than their coverage before the match. This match sadly lacked promotion from them before the weekend. I expect the Sussex match to suffer similarly.
Jennings and Wells played very well, pretty much faultlessly. Jennings so on top of things, that he was caught off a no ball, because he was the only person who knew it was, in effect, a free hit, pointing it out to the umpire (as he is now entitled to do for fielding restrictions). Never looked in any problem. Vilas was effortless, as he is in the longer formatted games. No mention of Lavelle and Morley who played their first games of the season - and contributed. Bohannon looked out of touch and was bowling spin again. Back problems? Croft out first ball.
Praise for Sam Dutton’s 9 ball cameo? I guess that’s what they value. I hope Gary Pratt doesn’t read that report. Shame Scott Read couldn’t pronounce Matthew Lowden’s name correctly, even after Garry Woodworth had done. Was he listening? No mention of Bailey’s injury. No mention of Blatherwick’s injury. No mention that possibly but not surprisingly the crowd was predominately from Cumbria - although clearly that’s only my guess. At least they stopped short of referring to Cumbria as Cumberland (unlike the BBC and Cricketarchive). Hurt and Blatherwick looked a strong opening partnership, just as well Bailey pulled out of the match!
This was a Lancashire Home match - they did all the organisation, but did not bother to produce a scorecard or even a single page of A4. The only PA announcement was at the innings break telling everyone to keep behind the boundary rope. So they had a PA live when they wanted to use it - but couldn’t say anything useful for the spectators. Otherwise everything did run like clockwork, well organised. Great day out. First time I’ve watched Lancashire play live since 2018!
I can only hope that if it happens again next year - and I expect it to - that it is not on the same day that England are playing at Old Trafford or two days after a Roses match so that they can actually promote the game. Cricket would win if they did. After all, isn’t that the point of trying to build a relationship with Cumbria?

I hope you enjoyed the day Chris. I watched via the stream and it looks a fantastic place for cricket.
I know it's been controversial but leaving the location and distance aside cricket played on a hot sunny day at an out ground with such a stunning back drop - isn't it special?
Blatherwick went for a few and got injured but he bowls it hard into the pitch. Tall with quite a strong action - do you think he's got something? Ex England under 19 so has been rated.
Hope Balderson can get a go in these games as he did very well last year.

Coincidentally the last Lancashire game I’d been to was also at Sedbergh School in 2018 to watch the School take on Lancashire Academy. Lavelle scored a 104 in that match. George Hill (and Tom Aspinwall) played for Sedbergh.
It is a relaxing place to watch cricket, for me the problems don’t revolve around distance (or location) but accessibility (and parking if it has been raining a lot). The school has fantastic facilities. There is some banking (in the shade yesterday) from which to watch the game although less than say Whitgift. Incredibly after the end of the match 4 or 5 ground staff descended on the pitch to water it. Can’t imagine that would happen anywhere else in the County. Says it all really.
Blatherwick looked ok to me, but didn’t really see him that much less than 4 overs. Looks young and strong. I had been surprised, even given our abundance of resources, that he hasn’t had more opportunities this year especially as you say he was ex-England 19s. But then Notts released him. Injury prone? Haven’t seen Balderson except on the live streams last year, doubt I will unless he plays in the equivalent fixture next time it happens.

With everything else that has happened the last two years, I’ve lost track completely of promising Lancashire cricketers and we have so many already on the outskirts of the first team. There are some really excellent batsmen who I’ve watched playing for Lancashire seconds such as Will Hale who won’t get into Lancashire‘s first team.
Glad you enjoyed it Chris. I don’t believe there is a more beautiful ground in the world than Sedbergh. At one time it would’ve been my fantasy to watch Lancashire play at Sedbergh though not as a home team. Two years ago Onions, Anderson ( injured during game) Mahmood, and Rushworth, a top class county cricketer , all played there. There is something great about seeing top-class cricketers perform at out grounds. Still remember watching Shane Warne at Aigburth in 2000. He bowled well but by far the best all round cricketer on show in that game was Andrew Flintoff.
25 years earlier in long gone better days, Gordon Greenidge , Clive Lloyd, Andy Roberts, and Barry Richards all performed brilliantly in a 3 day game at Aigburth ; three of the best days of my life even though we lost.

Thoughts on the T20 QF next week:
The last T20 squad for the Yorkshire game (and the previous two which they won) was:
Dane Vilas ©, Finn Allen, George Balderson, Jack Blatherwick, Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft, Alex Davies, Tom Hartley, Liam Hurt, Keaton Jennings, Rob Jones, Danny Lamb, Jack Morley, Luke Wells, Luke Wood
(Morley, Bohannon, Blatherwick and Balderson did not play)
It will be different for the QF.
+ves: Mahmood may be back if he isn’t playing in the test. Parkinson & Livingstone should be available again. Could add Lavelle to the squad for the first time this year. -ves: Finn Allen has gone home. Jennings, Wood and Blatherwick are injured (last we knew).
Dane Vilas ©, George Balderson, Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft, Alex Davies, Tom Hartley, Liam Hurt, Rob Jones, Danny Lamb, George Lavelle, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Jack Morley, Matt Parkinson, Luke Wells the likely squad maybe Bailey.
Effectively four changes needed from the last team: Probably Allen and Jennings replaced by Lavelle and Livingstone?? Mahmood & Parkinson in for Hurt and Wood??
Most likely either Lancashire will be missing Mahmood or Somerset will be missing Overton. ECB to make the call.
