edited my earlier post to add ages: total 220 so average 18.3
ETA: Jones (!!) and Moulton (injured?) in neither game, if 1st XVI squad is to be believed.

Two friendlies against Scotland A according to the handbook on Tuesday and Wednesday I saw that too. But would be surprised if it goes ahead. I can't find any reference to it from Cricket Scotland. Also with the website saying that 8 academy players are in the ECB Super 4s whatever that is, I doubt we could a raise a team. It would be too much to expect the club's website to clarify matters. Ken Grime the yearbook editor seems to be held in such highest regard, but I suspect the fixture was never more than a rumour, and possibly it was wishful thinking to in the book. If it was just cancelled when they lost the academy players, that would be short notice for Cricket Scotland.

Durham v Lancs Newcastle 23/8/21 to 26/8/21 Osborne Avenue is a cricket ground in Jesmond, Tyne and Wear. It was originally known as the Constabulary Ground.[1] It is currently the home ground of Newcastle Cricket Club, Royal Grammar School Newcastle and Northumberland County Cricket Club. History The first cricket match was played there in 1887,[2] though the first recorded match was in 1894, when Northumberland played a minor match against FGH Clayton's XI.[3] In 1897, the ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match when Northumberland played Durham. From 1897 to the present day, Osborne Avenue has hosted 457 Minor Counties Championship[4] and 24 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.[5] Two first-class matches have been played on Osborne Avenue, the first of which came in 1965 when a combined Minor Counties team played the touring South Africans, a match which the South Africans won by 243 runs.[6] The second of these saw the Minor Counties play the touring Pakistanis in 1974,[7] a match which the Pakistanis won by 5 wickets.[8] The first List A match played there came in the 1971 Gillette Cup between Northumberland and Lincolnshire. From 1971 to 2005, the ground played host to twenty List A matches, the last of which saw Northumberland play Middlesex in the 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. In addition to Northumberland, the ground also served as a home venue for Minor Counties East and Minor Counties North in the Benson and Hedges Cup one-day competition.[9] Northumberland County Cricket Club encountered financial difficulties in 2004, leaving them with the possibility of having to move from the ground, which is owned by a group of trustees. £30,000 was required to save the ground, with the savingcricket@jesmond campaign set up to promote the campaign to save the ground.[1][10] The campaign was a success and Osborne Avenue was saved from closure in 2006 following a two-year campaign, which ended with Newcastle's Royal Grammar School taking over the lease of the ground. The campaign was supported by Newcastle City Council,[1] sporting icon Sir Bobby Robson, as well as figures from the cricketing world such as England and Durham bowler Steve Harmison, who acted as the campaigns patron. Other notable players lent their support to the campaign, including Australian Dennis Lillee who wrote: “Most cricket grounds are forgettable. However, in my opinion, Jesmond should live forever. It should be a monument to what cricket is and should never lose”. Former England captain Mike Brearley and former England women's player Dorothy Macfarlane also gave their support to the campaign.[10] Following the successful campaign the grounds remains in use by Newcastle Cricket Club, and though Northumberland County Cricket Club gave up their lease of the ground, they continue to use the ground as a base and play some home matches there.[11]

no game for Shah or Moulton. no work out for any of those trying to prove fitness like Jennings, Gleeson, Wood or Blatherwick no game for Hurt, Morley or Cornall so they are probably in the 1st team squad travelling to Taunton

average age under 19. Three turned 20. Surely the idea is to have some experience in the side as well.
The likes of Hurt, Bailey, Croft, Wells, Morley, Lavelle, Bohannon, Jones, Lamb, Balderson haven’t played any cricket since 12th August. But I guess they don’t want any confusing red ball practice until after the T20 QF.

4 day game at Chester against Yorkshire starting Tuesday 31/8/21 Team:
Subhaan Mahmood, Ben Walkden, Matthew Hurst, Cian Dickinson, JJ Fielding, Harry Singh, Kurtis Watson, Jack Morley, Tom Hartley, George Burrows, Liam Hurt, Jack Blatherwick.
Hurt and Blatherwick no longer on 12th Man duties at OT.
Looks like despite playing Taylor Cornall in the RL50 he is no longer in the club’s plans - no wonder he was playing for Kent the other week. Looking more likely that Shah has gone as well, thought it was possible that he was with Scotland (played for their A team in early August) but he hasn’t played for Lancashire since 16th July. Moulton known to be with Derbyshire.Interesting also that the website says that Blatherwick continues to "step up his return from a side injury". No mention of Ric Gleeson who I would have thought would be worth giving a run out in the seconds whilst he also recovers from injury - unless they think they will not get more than 4 overs from him again?

Yes, Cornall gone. Difficult to see what he has done wrong really. Maybe you just have to impress in the nets more than he has done. It is incredibly competitive at Lancashire of course. Will Hale and Ross Zelem both looked very good cricketers to me when I saw them in Lancashire second but they soon disappeared. Accepting that the competition is incredibly tough in Lancashire, it does disappoint me that we have to recruit out of the county especially remembering 2011 as well as I do
