Who will be the next Lancashire Captain? Dane Vilas is the incumbent and in my opinion is doing a good job and I hope he is our captain next year but at 36 and on an overseas contract it is time to plan for the future.

I can't see anyone other than Keaton Jennings.

I agree, especially since Test call up unlikely and proved unexpectedly worth his place in limited overs games

I can't see anyone other than Keaton Jennings. Bailey did it for the One Day Cup so can't rule him out. I'd imagine Jennings for the CC and ODC with maybe Livingstone doing it in the T20s when he's not with England

It's a difficult question to answer since the main skills required are leadership, tactical knowhow and man management which are difficult to judge unless you are close to the team. I thought Keaton Jennings was the obvious choice and he is clearly well thought of with his "long term contract" but when Bailey was chosen for the One Day Cup after Vilas joined the hundred it made me think this might not be the case.
I wouldn't go for Bailey I didn't think his captaincy in the One Day Cup was particularly good. I prefer batsmen and wicket keepers to bowlers as captains and Lancashire have had a successful policy of rotating fast bowlers recently so again this would rule out using a quickie.
Another option if Vilas is going to be around for another year or two would be to groom one of the youngsters such as Bohannon. the firs step would be to make them vice captain, having said that I don't even know if we have a vice captain at the moment.
Alternatively a captain could be recruited from outside either as an overseas player or a recruit from another county. I wouldn't want to see this and would much prefer to seem somebody who has come up through the county.

The first step is to replace Paul Allott as Director of Cricket. Anyone heard any names in the frame?

I also thought Jennings was the obvious replacement, but was then surprised when Bailey got the job in the 1-day games. With Davies gone, there's not another obvious candidate, unless Wells has made a good impression since his arrival.

I would like to see Singh get a run opening the batting. Probably two overseas to be added. Will be interesting to see what happens with recruitment and players being released over the winter.

I'd say zero chance of Jimmy playing especially as they have removed his career display cabinet in the pavilion! This season we have used 23 players in the CC. Need to strengthen the bowling perhaps more than the batting?

Maybe they can't afford him. How long has he got on his contract?

And Hurst will probably be unavailable for the first 6 or 7 Div 2 CC matches having secured a deal with a franchise (who by then will own MO) in the IPL.
