With Jimmy and Josh with nothing to do now can we expect them to play in the last CC games?
There was talk of resting Jimmy for the OT test so I suspect if he does play it will be the Aigburth game. I don't think Josh is heading to the IPL and we need some batting re-inforcements.
I believe Liam Livingston is returning to the IPL......

Overton and Leach for them hazard a wild uneducated guess their two will play whilst ours won’t

A cynical bunch on Grockles looks like a forum to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”I’ve been on it for years and it’s really good. A few antagonisms but nothing like as much as the old Lancs Forum. Meeting a few people from there this week. Somerset fans said better make it Sunday or the match will be over! I’m sure someone from Somerset will manage a career best this match to confound that.

The two sides have met 161 times in First Class cricket. Somerset have won 26 of the matches, Lancashire have won 81 times, 53 matches have been drawn, one game was tied and three have been abandoned.
Somerset’s highest team score in the series is 565 at Taunton in 2000, while for the visitors it is 801 at the same venue back in 1895.
The highest individual innings for Somerset is 202 not out by Jack Meyer at Taunton in 1936, while for Lancashire it is 424 by Archie MacLaren at Taunton in 1895.
Somerset’s best bowling in the series is nine for 26 by Brian Langford at Weston-super-Mare in 1958, whilst for Lancashire it is nine for 31 by Harry Dean t Old Trafford in 1909.
The last time the two sides met in First Class cricket was at the Cooper Associates County Ground in 2018. It was a dramatic encounter that ended in a tie.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the visitors were all out for 99. Jack Leach was the destroyer in chief , claiming five for 28.
In reply, 64 not out from Lewis Gregory helped Somerset to 192 all out.
Leach was again the scourge of the visiting batsmen, and his seven for 74 helped to restrict Lancashire to 170 all out in their second innings.
Keshav Maharaj claimed seven wickets in the Somerset second innings as the hosts were dismissed for 77 and the game ended is a dramatic tie.
TEAM NEWS Following the cancellation of the Test match, both Craig Overton and Jack Leach have been added to the Somerset squad, whilst Lewis Gregory and Lewis Goldsworthy also return.
Head Coach, Jason Kerr has named the following squad for the match: Tom Abell, Azhar Ali, Tom Banton, George Bartlett, Jack Brooks, Josh Davey, Steve Davies, Marchant de Lange, Lewis Goldsworthy, Ben Green, Lewis Gregory, James Hildreth, Tom Lammonby, Jack Leach, Craig Overton and Roelof van der Merwe.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM Ahead of the match, Jason Kerr said: “There’s a lot of hurt and frustration in the dressing room after the last two games, and we know that we need to right a few wrongs. Lancashire are a strong side and we know that we need to put in a significantly better performance than we have done in the last two weeks.
“We are very aware of the expectations that we’ve set over the last few years. We have standards and we want to get back to those as quickly as possible. What’s happened has happened. We can’t change that and we know that we have to win the next two games as comprehensively as possible.”

No Mahmood, No Livingstone, Wood 90% fit according to Vilas. No mention of Anderson, Davies, Buttler or Jennings.
But as previously proven the team who write the Match Previews rarely know anything specific about actual selection.

Lavelle dropped? Not listed as injured. Really progressive to drop him while Davies and Croft are included while neither are the future.
A squad packed with bowlers. Somerset getting alot of their guys back and look strong even if their first two results weren't good. Not at all confident for this one.
Livingstone probably ducked last week so he could be OK for the ipl. A high score of 25 from 7 innings suggests he would serve little purpose anyway but sad his career has gone down this route.
Increasingly cricket is going the was of football where the grubby pursuit of money overrules everything that is good about the game.
Like Buttler his guest appearances in the blast are poor. If there is no money in it they can't be bothered.

Wicket playing better than it looks. Davies out to a very good ball. Looks like we're aiming to score quickly and doing it..

A return to our norm of losing the toss (11 out of 13) has resulted in an improvement!

In the bits I saw of the last match, I wasn't convinced Lavelle was the future either. Normally, I'd agree with you but with all the absentees due to injury, the IPL and baby-sitting (OK, Jos?), i guess Lancashire have picked what is currently their strongest side to try to keep in the Championship hunt.
