Not sure of the exact rules but why is Vilas still an overseas player? I know he is South African but he has been with us 5 years, I'm sure there are other players who are no longer listed as overseas.

I don’t know, but I suspect it is because his right to live and work in the UK is due to his wife’s ancestral visa, rather than a direct personal link. No doubt he (and the club) are trying to secure a UK passport, which might depend on how many days he has been out of the country.

Shame but hopefully opens up opportunities for Lavelle and Bell in the 50 over comp.

Top player and top bloke. Like all of us I am sure he would dearly have wished to win something with us, but can look back with pride on his career.
Not the best tactical captain(he's not alone there) but there was no doubt he held the respect of the other players, who referred to him as 'God' during his peak period.
My main memory is not the big scores he made but a match against Essex. He was keeping wicket to a spinner(probably Parky) when Ten Doeschate tried to pinch a quick single, but Vilas ran down the wicket, picked the ball up and threw the wicket down at the bowlers end, running him out. Wasn't a wicket that won us the game or anything like that but I remember the whole team sprinting up to mob him and almost lift him on their shoulders. Can't ever remember seeing quite that reaction in similar circumstances.

Sad news but isn't he retiring from all Lancs cricket not just 4 day? I think he has been one of the best Lancs captains. Another one one going.....Croft next?

Dane was a fantastic captain always leading from the front and has been a great player for us. Sorry to see him go but I think it is the right decision for him after his struggles this season.
He is retiring from all county cricket at the end of the season but will be playing in the SA franchise in January.
I'm also expecting an announcement from Croft particularly after his coaching role in the One Day Cup.

It is going to be a very interesting batting line-up for the first game of the County Championship next season. Jennings, Wells, Bohannon, then it's anyone's guess. The youngsters plus overseas pro?

Overseas pro 4 County important 5 Balderson 6 maybe? I fear we will line up something like current 50 over team plus one overseas only though. As for Vilas good luck to him whatever he does in the future, great servant to the club.

Try and get Salt to play more red ball two 100s this year!
Balderson should be looking to nail down a top 6 place.

Dane has been a terrific contributor inn the last few years although his fc this year has suffered rather. He will still play T20 in South Africa apparently.

Vilas has been a great player for us but the time is right to go. The same for Croft, I assume he will stay behind the scenes so maybe there for emergencies. No idea what contracts Livingstone and Buttler are on but I would only give them T20 ones (as long as Livingstone isn't captain!) and it wouldn't bother me if both left. Will be a different team next season, hopefully recruitment will be good.
