Highlight reel posted by his management team. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpLSVplFZnECertainly looks quick. Let's hope Chapple, Onions and Anderson (you'd imagine he'll be helping out on the coaching side too) can knock him into shape. Sounds like we were into Tongue but were beaten to it by Nottinghamshire. Not too many 90mph bowlers going around the circuit so worth a punt.

Tongue opted for Notts because of the prospect of working with bowling coach Kevin Shine. Apparently 12 months ago Moeen Ali instructed Charles Dagnell to keep an eye on Mitchell Stanley because of his pace, lets hope he realises his potential at OT.

Any one know anything about this fast bowler they have signed form worcs I've got to admit I have never heard of him. The DOC describes him as a raw talent, I recall the same was said about Blatherwick 3 years ago. Hope he does well for us but a 12 months contract suggests a gamble. He's the second signing that Lancashire have made from another county who is part of the franchise squad which Chapple coaches (and does Katich still manage?). Tongue who everyone says they tried to sign is also in that same squad. Add to that they dropped Parkinson months after the franchise let him go, so perhaps not too much of a surprise. With the current options on the table regarding the future of franchise ECB franchise cricket, I suspect the link will only get closer. Bit like Tim David he has only played T20 and franshise cricket. No List A and no first class.
The surprises area why only one year, do they know it's possible he might spend a lot of time on the treatment table, given all the videos which seem to show him strapped up and why are so many bolwers leaving Worcestershire?
The last signing or player leaving Lancs? I doubt it.

Seems to be a flood of players leaving Worcs...that won't help them stay in Div 1 if they get promoted. I hope Lancs are concentrating on finding some slow bowling prospects..I read some chap taken 20 wickets in 8 games for Durham...

He's managed 7 games this year for Worcestershire: 3 for their 1st team: 2 friendlies against SACA (in April) and the New Zealanders (in August) 1 in the Blast (in May) and 4 for the seconds: 2 x SEC (none since May) 2 x SET20 (again in May) although he's fit enough to be playing for his club in the Birmingham league at the moment.

Todays lunchtime forum -
I wasn't at the forum but I've been in contact with someone who was. The DOC said that the signing of Stanley will be the only domestic player coming in. There will be an overseas batting replacement for Vilas. I don't know if a second overseas player will be signed. He realises that it is very difficult to take 20 wickets but there is no easy solution, our bowlers have to improve! A couple of members commented about how boring the cricket has been but he bypassed them by saying they are comments not questions. He is totally against the change in the points system and intends to make his feelings known to the ECB. He also said he is happy with the batting strength with the younger lads integrating into the team. The rest of the forum was about the different membership levels and benefits. If anything else crops up I'll post.

Not necessarily against this signing, we do need a genuine pace bowler, but the one-year contract and inexperience suggests a hopeful punt rather than somebody who's expected to play regularly, so doesn't change the fact that we need another seam bowler. We've been very lucky that Bailey & Williams have stayed fit.

One overseas to cover the whole season isn't going to cut it. Hopefully bring a second one in for T20 at least. Not sure of International schedules next summer. Which country is likely to provide most availability re signings?

Re Chilton's remarks about the (bland - my word) OT wickets. I've looked at the CC results at the other main Test match grounds this season.
Surrey - Played 7 Results 5 Draws 2 Warwickshire - Played 6 Results 5 Draws 1 Nottinghamshire - Played 6 Results 3 Draws 3 Middlesex - Played 6 Results 6 Draws 0 Yorkshire - Played 4 Results 1 Draws 3
These are all matches played at headquarters, not outgrounds.
Conclusions. Poor weather in the North? Better prepared wickets to achieve a result in the Midlands and London?
To counter the possible poor Northern weather - Durham - Played 6 Results 5 Draws 1

I see "debt" being mentioned a couple of times in the last few pages. Are there any concrete reports on this, what the level is etc? Or is this just general comments from Lancs management, a bit like how United were using FFP as an excuse for poor summer signings.

I believe debt is around £30m but Lancs can generate a lot of income from non-cricket activities. It's a pity that hotel extension wasn't completed for any for the internationals.
