Already looking like another year without a title win, despite all the talent we have.
Would you guys look to make changes to the coaching team in the off-season? Maybe it's time for some fresh ideas.
Here are the key points for and against IMO (hopefully this is fair and if Chapple and co were reading this they'd think it was constructive.
Pros - brought through loads of good young players (unlike lots of other counties). - made some shrewd signings (Wells and Wood). - stabilised us after the yo-yo years. - no guarantee a big-name coach would change things - how many times has Peter Moores been relegated now??!!
Cons - often very cautious tactics, particularly when we're on top (feel like we play better when we're coming from behind than when we're ahead in games). - some bizarre decisions in terms of both in-game tactics and wider strategy (non-retention of Hassan Ali for example!) - a few players have gone backwards (Hameed, Parkinson).
Overall I'd probably lean towards a change if we don't win the CC this season, they've had plenty of time and it's hard to shake the feeling that the mentality isn't quite right. Would be good to get others' thoughts though.

That's right: last season was very good but this season we seem to have gone backwards so what has gone wrong, especially in the CC? In the current match, for example, we just haven't been able to field a good enough side to compete properly. Why?

In the current match, for example, we just haven't been able to field a good enough side to compete properly. Why? One fundamental issue is team selection. There seems to be players available who are in better form than some of the players playing in this game. Already mentioned on this thread Balderson, Croft and Wood, maybe they all have niggles, I don't know. Then there is the Parky debacle.
I think I am correct in saying that the last two trophies we have won have been under an "external" coach, i.e. T20 Blast in 2015 under Giles and the Championship in 2011 under Moores.

Yes, that's right. Mind you, we definitely weren't the best team in the CC in 2011 but, at least for that season, Moores did establish a sense of momentum that carried us through. I think Lancs would definitely benefit from an outsider's perspective. For many years, there have been far too many former players in key positions in the club and we have this attitude that values obedience, discretion and loyalty above being good at cricket.

I would agree that Balderson should be playing in this game: Croft also. Vilas, sadly, well out of form. One change from last season - the captain....

Surely it's time for a change. Something to be thought about at the end of the season but remember last year we made finals and were 2nd in the CC. Mate Claudio Ranieri done the unthinkable and won the leauge with a 1000/1 shot .They sacked him the following year ,Glenn chappel team selection and tactics in both comps have been a disgrace , He wants sacking for signing CDG alone . There needs to be a major clearout at lancs top to bottom . Chilton must be the 1st out the door .

Serious question, what does Chilton actually do? I thought Allott had a big hand in who we sign.

Serious question, what does Chilton actually do? I thought Allott had a big hand in who we sign. Paul Allott no longer part of that, Chilton is the man when it comes to recruitment. He is also responsible for all elite performance and pathway cricket at OT. Remember Dave, Lancashire completed a global search before they appointed Mr Chilton!

Has anyone done a count of how many former Lancashire players are currently in influential positions within the club's management structure? There have certainly been plenty over the years.
