Once again it's the bottom order that score the majority of the runs with Mennie top-scoring, the only one getting above 20.
Essex require 105 to win.

Poor result, a couple of batsman got shooters however this was as bad as it gets. Bowlers to their credit did the best they could but defending 104 futile hope the ambulance service did their best for the ill person this morning another ambulance was required in the afternoon as well.

I agree with the Admin, it was a poor result. The story of this season, I think, is that Lancashire could not put the opposition away when in a good position. 2 draws and 2 defeats at home put Lancashire in the relegation dogfight.

Lancs have had the chance to win 4, even 5, of their 6 matches but have squandere opportunities in all but one (Notts away).
The top-order batting, and close catching, must improve.

Lancs have had the chance to win 4, even 5, of their 6 matches but have squandere opportunities in all but one (Notts away). The top-order batting, and close catching, must improve. The only possible way of being optimisic at the moment is that we have not yet played the three sides below us at the moment.
The question is whether they will still be below us after we have played them. We need to be able to beat at least 2 of Worcester, Hampshire and Yorkshire, without losing any of these next matches. But there aren't that many draws these days.
Essex and Notts are ahead because they have strong bowling attacks. Their batting has not been that much better than ours.
