Just published on Lancs TV m.youtube.com/watch?v=tzEBYlVaRgkGood interview i thought. Sounds like we'll be going for an external candidate. As I (and doubtless many others) thought at the time, sounds like the Blast failure did for Chapple in the end.

Thanks for the link.. looks like Farington will host at least one CC game - replacing Sedbergh hopefully - some of 50 over stuff and Thunder games..
I suspect Chapple's departure is more to a personality clash somewhere..

I suspect Chapple's departure is more to a personality clash somewhere.. But Sedbergh have not had a CC match since 2019. Assuming that stands for County Championship.
It is more than likely that the County club, what's left of it during an expanded franchise event, will decamp to Leyland rather than Sedbergh School in future. But if there is to be a first class county championship game at the new ground it most replace Old Trafford, Blackpool or S&B.
Lancashire, in its wider context have tried to play 3 x 50 over games at Sedbergh each year since 2021. One by the women. One to start their one day 50 over campaign and the other is technically an away game but which they insist is played at the school so they can use it as a base for a week and justify going that far north.

I'll be pleased if we look externally: new ideas, fresh perspective. May have been posted elsewhere but I see Graham Onions has gone back to Durham as bowling coach.

This interview reinforced one of my concerns about county cricket, that the Hundred would be expanded and eventually replace the T20 blast.
Also disappointed that it sounds like Farington will take cricket away from out grounds. Ironic that Mr Anson spoke about how much he had enjoyed the One Day Cup game at York but didn't mention our out grounds.

Lehmann? Well that would wind the Yorkies up?
Speaking of which, we’ve been getting some comments on their Long Room thread this week about lack of interest in Lancashire day. I have to be honest, I hadn’t a clue it was Lancashire day on the 27th. It’s not exactly a Christmas Day, Easter Day or even a Bank Holiday is it?

I hope in the strongest terms that that horrible piece of work doesn't come anywhere near Lancashire. I won't be going out of my way to watch us if he's appointed coach.

I didn't say I wanted him myself. Just a name that popped in to my head after listening to Anson and Lyon signing. Great player Lyon but he takes no prisoners when he opens his mouth. Won't suit everybody. Personally I've had enough of the old boys club and the choking at the final hurdle. It requires a proper shake up.

Hi, I wasn't suggesting that anyone was advocating Lehmann, just registering my very strong dislike for the man, his means and his MO. Completely agree that we need a new broom but I'd like my sweeper to be ethical and principled and not drag the club down into the gutter. I didn't used to be Lyon's biggest fan in terms of the way he conducts himself but think there's a noticable improvement in the new Aussie regime, I'm really looking forward to watching him play, it's brilliant for Lancashire and the championship to have someone of his stature in the competition.

If he got us some trophies I couldn't care less what he was like I hate the win at all costs mentality. I'd rather we didn't win the championship if it involves employing a man that subsumes the game in nastiness, toxicity and cheating. Give me the attitudes and behaviours of coaches and leaders like Brendan McCullum, Ben Stokes, Jason Gillespie and Kane Williamson every day of the week. They play the game the right way, winners too.

Anson sounded like there is going to be a mentality change in the club on and off the pitch. I didn't like the way people were celebrating the runner up 'treble' as a major achievement. Won nothing at the end of the day. Everybody is different on why they attend matches. Many are happy with a good game win or lose, with a bit of decent weather, others want trophies and winners. Hopefully 2024 will make Everybody happy.

How is appointing a nasty cheating racist a balance? That's not balance. Why is ruthlessness your prized characteristic? Fook ruthlessness. I'm not some namby pamby, oooh isn't it nice to take part type. I want Lancashire to win, but to win in the right way. And that can be done, look at Gillespie's record, look at McCullum's: men of values. I'm not interested in following any team that doesn't have the right kind of values and behaviours. If you think appointing a toxic dinosaur like Lehmann will lead to trophies, you are very wrong. He is yesterday's man, thankfully the world has moved on.

I didn't say I wanted Lehmann it's a name that occurred post Anson interview and Lyon signing. I also said ruthless within the rules. Tired of the old boys club, including Chilton, who remains in post, tired of the choking. By ruthless on the pitch I meant changing the number of times we have teams 5 or 6 down for not many but then don't put our foot on the throat. That might come from a different style of coach.
