Said on his Podcast just released this afternoon that:
1. Says that “sticking around with the team this summer in a different capacity would be nice, potentially.” The chats on this are ongoing with Stokes, McCullum and Key after the Test.
2. Will definitely play for Lancashire before that First Test at Southport.
3. Hasn’t had a conversation with people at Lancashire yet about the future, there are games at the end of the season that he’s not ruling out playing in at the moment, but he needs to have a conversation with Lancs first to see what they want to do.
4. The potential of playing for Lancashire next season is part of his thought process - “I’m not 100% set on what I’m going to do next. That will be a conversation further down the with Lancashire to see what they want to do and to see if I have the desire and willingness to do that.”
5. Looking forward to playing for “Lancs and then that First Test match, having fun on the field and remembering why I started playing the game.”

Even five or six appearances a year from him would be great.

I agree, Gareth. I don't know Jimmy is like as a coach/teacher, but younger players can surely get something from being around and watching Jimmy.

If I was Lancs, I'd tell him he can pick and choose his games. Even five or six appearances a year from him would be great. Yeah - even if he gets a role with England I guess it would be red ball only and there’d be times when there’s no international cricket on (or just the white ball stuff) and he could play games for Lancashire in that period. I’d also let him choose which games he even wants to play during that period as I can imagine he would not want to play too many back-to-back games or spend much time away from home with Lancs if he’s also spending some time away on England backroom duty. Then again he might prefer to play away games so he doesn’t have to bowl on an Old Trafford flat deck! A handful of games with Lancs and him being around to mentor the youngsters when it comes to bowling technique and the levels of professionalism and dedication that it takes to have the kind of career he has had would be well worthwhile for Lancs I imagine.

Looks like he is waiting to see if he gets the job for England as bowling coach first. If not then he will play for Lancs. If he loves bowling so much he would play for Lancs for the rest of the season.
Why would he want to be bowling coach? Travelling, away from home for months, blamed when the bowling goes wrong. Just play that 1st Test and come back to Lancs for a couple of years.

From the BBC website saying - "He is due to warm up for his final Test.........by playing for the Red Rose in County Championship matches against Kent at Canterbury and Nottinghamshire at Southport at the end of June." and
The pace bowler is yet to publicly reveal if he will continue to play for Lancashire after his Test career ends.

That is going to be quite tight, finishing Legends Golf Tour in Ireland on Saturday and playing on Sunday at Canterbury. Three months since he last bowled in India and he will be rusty.

I shouldn't think Jimmy's lack of action will bother him too much. In 23/24 he didn't bowl a ball in anger from the final Ashes Test on 31 July to the second Test in India on 2 February, that's 6 months.

Confirmed that he will join England as a bowling mentor and be around the team for the rest of the summer. Meanwhile his Lancs future has not been decided. Main quotes from, and link to, the story: “James Anderson will join the England coaching set-up as a fast-bowling mentor when he retires from Test cricket against West Indies at Lord’s next week.” “He is yet to make a decision on his future with the Red Rose, but Key said Anderson will be with the England team “all summer”. “What he does with Lancashire will probably work out after the Lord’s Test,” said Key.” www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cyx0gdx5zq7o

Not sure what a bowling mentor is..something less than a bowling coach I guess. Jimmy still seems undecided whether he wants to play for Lancs post the Lords test. If he does then do Lancs need to sign a replacement for Lyon?
