Looking at the score does not fill me with a lot of hope for the future against an admittedly very strong Essex side.
Mind you when you think of our seconds between around 2012 and maybe 2018 and some of the players , Saqib, LL, HH, Matt Parkinson, you do wonder to where all that hope vanished .

SD Perera appears to be Savin Perera, a 25-year-old former England U-19 player. Started with Middlesex but seems to have trialed at several counties without any notable success. Perhaps reflects our desperation to find a batsman with Singh not being very successful.

Absolute triumph ; only losing by 250 runs.
I was going to watch the Seconds at least one day a day at Aigburth next week . It is only Middlesex, not Essex we are playing but could be profoundly depressing. Won’t go Monday and see if it looks worth going Tuesday.

Don't be too disheartened Des, it was a very experienced Essex team using the game for practice ahead of the resumption of the championship - they fielded six players with first team experience against our two. And Tom Westley, ex-England, did the damage in the Essex first innings. Good to see Lancashire taking a look at players coming through the SACA pathway with SD Perera top scoring for Lancashire in the 2nd innings with 150*.

Yes, had mentioned about their experience OE. Very impressed by Noah Thain when I saw him at Chester for Essex seconds last year . It was one of those moments where a player jumped out at you as did Livingstone and Saqib and suggested he would play for England.

Going to Aigburth tomorrow. First time I have been to a seconds game. Basic question, will there any form of refreshment available at the ground or definitely bring your own job?
