Available for only seven games naive to think CA would ever allow a full season?

Available for only seven games naive to think CA would ever allow a full season? Well CA have known his was coming for a while...interesting that that discussions with potential signings were "taking place": So not relying on Hartley a a replacement.

Seven of our first nine championship games are in April and May not the most productive time for a spinner.
Games 8 and 9 are Kent at Canterbury and Notts at Southport at the end of June.

Hope they mean a replacement as overseas rather than overseas spinner specifically. Think the batting would benefit from another overseas after Lyon leaves more than the bowling where I personally think our depth is better.

Available for only seven games naive to think CA would ever allow a full season? I could never see Nathan Lyon playing much white ball cricket for us but I did hope that he would be bowling us to the county championship in September on dry turning wickets after a long hot summer.
It does seem strange to me that this has come up now. I thought somebody like Nathan Lyon would have a manager/ agent who would negotiate his terms with Lancashire and agree everything with CA and other stakeholders. It seems very amateurish that this is announced while he is packing his bags to leave for his time with Lancashire.
The weather forecast for the Surrey game isn't looking good at the moment if it doesn't improve do we leave him out of the first game to avoid wasting one of his seven starts?

Seems daft to have a game against one of the top teams when the weather, even if sunny, will be cold...

suspect it's Cricket Australia trying to leave their decision as late as possible to see how they assess things after their two tests against New Zealand in case he picked up a niggle or was considered tired. Agent and Lyon were probably keen. first test end Feb Lyon bowled 8.1-1-43-4 and 27-8-65-6 second test start March Lyon bowled 2-0-6-0 and 16.2-1-49-3 Maybe they should have rested him aftert he first test! Are they being over protective of a 36 year old on those figures?
Lancashire have to guess what they will need in the Blast, the One Day Cup and the Championship run in based on injuries as much as anything with question marks already over Stanley, Mahmood and Blatherwick taking into consideration and how well players like Boyden, Bell, Aspinwall and Hurst are performing. Maybe take into consideration whether an in form West Indian test player wants to stay over after their series finishes in July for a bit of Metrobank One Day plus the championship.

Maybe take into consideration whether an in form West Indian test player wants to stay over after their series finishes in July for a bit of Metrobank One Day plus the championship. According to George Bailey the CA chairman of selectors they recently sat down with Lyon during a scheduled contract meeting and discussed whether a full season in England was in his best interests given Australia have got 7 Tests November to January and also their plan for him going forward over the next 24 months. A case of managing the workload of a 36 year old veteran who is still a massive asset for his country, similar to what has happened with Jimmy over the last few years?
I know they are different bowlers but Lyons priority is Australia just as Jimmy's priority is England.

Just read of a further reduction to six matches. Rumour or truth, anyone know?
