www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gcrjnkcbu#?date=2024-05-07Once again a slightly different forecast by the Met, hopefully they are the one who get it right. If Lancs win this then the season is up and running, if they lose (against current fellow strugglers) then we really are in the brown stuff. I'm there for the duration and once again it will be a pleasure to enter a stadium where you are not thought of as an inconvenience and where I can choose where to sit and not be told.

Yes I was there last year and enjoyed it. There just the first couple of days this time.

Am I right in thinking it's been a flat track this year? Joe Clarke has certainly been scoring for fun.

I just hope we see a fully fit and firing Saqib and not the medium pacer who played those couple of matches last season. After his injury troubles over the last two seasons he deserves a break.

I hope Saqib is fully fit and not been rushed back to soon. Makes sense to use this game to rest Lyon before Hartley goes off on England duty. I think it will be Lavelle and Blatherwick carrying the drinks.

Olly Stone very much the same as Saqib when it comes to injuries. Their main bowler Brett Hutton is injured and Ben Duckett has been rested.

I think I saw someone on here say that Saqib was having his red ball overs rationed this season or maybe I heard Allott say it on comms during the Kent match.
With Wells and Balderson bowling whilst batting in the top 6 I guess there is enough balance to the side and bowling options to allow Saqib to be used in short and sharp bursts.
Still if Bailey doesn’t improve from his earlier games this season, if the pitch isn’t assisting Hartley and if Mahmood is not able to bowl a “normal” workload it could be some long sessions in the field.

I was surprised to see that comment about Saqib limiting his overs as I read an interview with him recently in which he said Test cricket was very much a priority. Mind you, we heard Livingstone ( remember him) say that 8/9 years ago.
I think this has to be make or break for him ; has to be one day cricket only if he doesn’t last this time.
