From a forum over on the dark side..
In 2019, the aggregate attendance for County Championship matches was 462,970. In 2023 it was 390,371 - a drop of over 15%. 15 of the 18 County Clubs registered a decline in attendance. (Surrey, Durham and Leicestershire bucked the trend.) Prior to 2020, the attendance at Championship games was on a modest upward trend.
Doesn't help in trying to keep 14 CC games a season
Lancs is given as 20,838
Some analysis CC Attendance No of clubs
Less than 10,000 4 10-20,000 4 20-30,000 7
30-40,000 2 40,000 1 (Surrey who else?)
Various reasons - TV coverage....I've read that other organisations e.g. theatres have experienced a similar decline in attendance post covid.

The figures must be for people buying match tickets and so excluding members who attend, who I would expect to be the majority at championship games.

Lanc's CC 2023 attendance must have been reduced by the 540 overs i.e. 5.5 days lost to bad light/rain etc

Its a long time since LCCC published attendances but I have them for the seasons 2002-4. Average attendance for the 8 home CC games then was 4,800 (including 800 non-members).
Extrapolated that would be equivalent to 34,000 total today..
Meanwhile over on the dark side Mr Graves wants to convert Yorks CC from a members' club to a limited company.
