Yesterday at the Q and A someone asked why we hired Dale Benkenstein as coach with his record. Chilton said it was disrespectful. Our record suggests it wasn't, and I see Gloucester haven't looked back since he left! It's like Liverpool going to Rotherham for their new manager!

I think Keaton Jennings knew Dale at Durham so that may have been a factor. I guess nowadays many overseas coaches would prefer a well paid short spell with a franchise team. Anything else come up at the Q & A?

I would call it more a charm offensive than a Q&A. Anson had Chilton and Gidney with him for moral support, all smiles and nodding of heads. In all my time watching Lancashire I have never known a hastily arranged "Q&A" session featuring the chairman, the chief exec and the head coach taking place 5 days before the AGM. There is also a forum next Sunday morning before the VB game so why couldn't they hold the Q&A then? Add in the barrage of e-mails to members with various board members falling over themselves in support of Anson each one saying what a great guy he is. Surely they haven't got wind of the number of members who have voted for Anson out? Anyway, the Q&A - 1. Whether we like it or not the hundred is here to stay, all counties have now reached agreement. 2. Jimmy is pencilled in to play at Canterbury and Southport. Other than those games (and the first Test) he is still making his mind up on his next move. Jimmy wanted to finish his Test career at OT but that was too far into the Test match season so second choice was Lords. 3. Farington is taking shape, hoping to have junior games sometime next year with a view to first team games in 2026. 4. Looking for another overseas player to take over when Lyon leaves but at this stage of the season not easy.

Chilton taking supporters as idiots, a know nothing inconvenience is far more disrespectful. It was a horror appointment that is going to see us in the second division most likely and he a very lucky man to still be in post.

I don't see the point in having Wood Salt Anderson Livingstone etc on the books if they never play for Lancs also signing an spinner who is past his sell by date was crazy a decent bat or better still a batting all rounder would have been more sensible surely.....the 2 overseas men have done nothing to help the cause...

He appointed the current coaching team and is responsible for squad recruitment, the departure of Gleeson and could have intervened to retain the likes of Rob Jones and Matt Parkinson.

Who decides if Chilton gets the push? The board? Do the members have any say or pull?

Thanks for the Q & A info. There seem to be lot of these meetings this season but if the club wants more direct contact with the members is that such a bad thing?
