I won’t even watch us on YouTube when we play at OT now, I just find it so dismal . It isn’t as bad when the temporary stand is up, even if empty.
Off to my proper cricket ground Rainford shortly. It has become the spiritual home for me that OT once was. You can even get a non rip off tea in proper cups.
On the old forum , Voice of B stand wrote a terrific piece on Fortress Old Trafford and Governor Gidney during the time when the works were going on. My favourite line was “ We are scanned in and out like frozen turkeys” .

Des, we have just entered OT and my 66 year old wife who is also a Life Member was asked to open her little handbag for inspection. Of course she could have been hiding multiple cans of alcohol, bottles of wine, possibly a couple of flares, maybe even a shotgun - but she wasn't! Eventually common sense prevailed when my wife pointed out the actual size of her handbag. Emirates Old Trafford the welcoming venue... |
