Thanks for the great post John. How did you think Parky bowled compared to Lyon & Wells. He's taken quite a few wickets for them, but they've been expensive. Been good for them in the T20s though. Thanks SP. Parky did okay but all 3 bowlers went through periods of tying the batsmen down without ever looking threatening. I thought Lancashire worked out that the best way of getting the batsman out was to wait for them making a mistake. In the Kent 1st innings Lyon had bowled around 10 overs, not giving anything away but at the same time not really looking like taking a wicket. Muyeye and Stubo then had the confidence to take him on and for 5 overs this worked, Lyon being the crafty bowler that he is just waited for one of them to make a mistake, Stubo obliged 5 minutes before tea. When Parky bowled, Wells and Bohannon were well set (strange that O'riordan got the nod before Parky?) but they showed him the utmost respect for 11 overs (Lancs were now around 170/1 and I was wondering why the batsmen weren't pushing on). There was then a 5 over period when Wells tore into him before withdrawing and reverting to milking him for 3/4/5 an over. Lancs had worked out that the only way they were going to get out was if they got themselves out so they put caution before chance. Parky was bowling to batsmen not taking a chance hence 40 overs for 2 wickets, Lyon and Wells were bowling to batsmen willing to take a chance so open to making a mistake therefore they bowled 28 overs and picked up 5 wickets in the crucial first innings. Not exactly whambam stuff but fascinating to watch...hope that helps.
The one bowler from both attacks who did impress me was Balderson. He has definitely worked on his game and well done to him and any coach who has helped him. He also appears to be a lucky bowler in that he comes into the attack and makes something happen.

Also impressed by Balderson ..... good enough to be an opening bowler but Jennings seems to go to someone else first. Would also like to see him batting at 3.
