Southport usually takes spin but conditions often likely to be cloudy so difficult call who to play.
My favourite Southport match was when Viv Richards scored a magnificent big hundred for Somerset, but we still won the match. Remember Bumble picking the ball up from the boundary after another Viv Richards four and saying to the packed crowd 'Good of him to turn up, wasn't it?'

Yes, Silly Point . Big regret I didn’t go to that match. Colin Croft was our match winner.
“Will Blatherwick be preferred to Anderson?” 😀😀
Just tried to log into Archive to post scorecard of Somerset 77 which has always been free for your home county but not so now, it seems . They can p… off.
I always thought there were reckoned to be 10000 there on royal wedding day 1981, exclusively male . Was going to post that scorecard too. My dad’s opening batting partner in club cricket told me “ Greater love hath no man than your dad sharing that stretch of wall with me that day”. There is a bit of humorous description of it in Simon Hughes’s book “ Lot of hard Yakka”.
I was working in Isle of Man at the time ; was still a BH there but I went out and did a tough 17 miles rough walking in the heat.

Was at that one as well, Des, by the way free entry at Leicester tomorrow

Cloudy and cool but at least it's dry. Green has just been awarded his county cap.

On the theme of maximum attendances at outgrounds I have
Blackpool - 13,782 - v Glamorgan in 1950
Liverpool - 15,164 - v Northampton in 1948.
Southport current capacity is about a quarter of the 10,500 v Glamorgan. Was everybody standing or did they bring in the boundary rope?

Cloudy and cool but at least it's dry. Green has just been awarded his county cap. About time Balderson was awarded his cap. We don't want to lose him.

Notts win toss and put us in. Green in for Lavelle, Anderson for Blatherwick. We've got a long tail so hope the top three do the business.

Bell sadly proving he is not county quality again. Our middle order has been dismal all season, Hurst apart. Maybe Lavelle can score some runs.

Now 120-4 on a flat wicket. Another defence incoming. Dismal.
