Know Lavelle and Croft are OOC at the end of the season and doubt they get renewed(Think Crofty goes into coaching full time). Any other news regarding incomings and outgoings.

As things stand George Lavelle is our only viable batting cover. There are a couple of promising youngsters around but until one is ready to step up to the first team or we sign another batsmen I think we need to keep Lavelle. Perhaps one of the youngsters will be blooded in the ODC.

Perhaps one of the youngsters will be blooded in the ODC. I’d keep Lavelle also. Think he’ll end up being good enough but needs chances. Flintoff and Fonseka behind him who are doing well for England U19s

I've just googled him, 25 years old, played 12 FC matches and taken 28 wickets at 42.96. Has played for Oxford University, Cambridgeshire, Essex seconds before Gloucestershire. Could be another Blatherwick but our coach obviously has a high regard for him.

One rumour doing the rounds is that Lancashire are interested in quickie Zaman Akhter, his contract is up this year. He currently plays for...Gloucestershire! 5/32 today against the touring Sri Lanka team for the Lions. Looks like he dismissed each of the top 3 in his first spell after coming on as the first-change bowler before snagging a couple of tail-enders later on.

Sorry, but I wouldn't keep Lavelle. Had his opportunity in ODC and failed miserably. I'd much rather give the opportunity to Flintoff or Fonseka.

I agree Sillypoint but I think the player needs to get away from Old Trafford. Even his club form has declined this season . Lancashire have managed to ruin someone who was seen as a future England keeper six , seven years ago. He will do a decent job elsewhere and maybe more than that.

I completely agree with you Des. He may well be able to achieve somewhere else what Brooke Guest has achieved at Derbyshire, but it's not going to happen at OT.
Lavelle was the star of the Bunbury Festival in 2015. Indeed, David English, who runs the Bunbury Festival, in 2016 picked Lavelle in his team of best players ever to have played in the Bunbury festival, which I think dates back to the 1980s. His team was -
Alastair Cook (2000), Michael Vaughan (1990), Ian Bell (1997), Joe Root (2006), Ben Hollioake (1992), Andrew Flintoff (1992), George Lavelle (2015), Moeen Ali (2002), Adil Rashid (2003), Rory Hipwell (2012), Steven Finn (2004). On the bench: Jonny Bairstow (2005), Jos Buttler (2006), Marcus Trescothick (1991), Graeme Swann (1994).
Lavelle in some very good company there. A sad indictment of Lancashire's failure to properly develop talent.

Would be a great signing. Josh Hull would be even better though. Josh Hull has a very high ceiling, how many English LF/LFM 6ft 7in bowlers do you see? He bowls at a really good pace and his skills have developed quickly since last year's championship debut. If he stays relatively injury free and in good form I would expect him to debut for England in the next 12 months. For me there would be a very real risk that his next county, if he leaves Leicestershire, will see little of him. If he does leave he's much more likely to follow the well trodden path to Notts and the fast bowling coaching skills of Kevin Shine. Zaman is probably a better bet. Bowling in the mid 80s, shorter, think Luke Wood height, similarly skiddy. Would be an asset in all forms of the game and less likely to play as much international and franchise cricket as Hull. If he has a good relationship with Benkenstein there ight be something in it.
