For anybody who is making the journey, hope the weather holds, fingers crossed for a Lanky performance similar to last season and enjoy the surroundings. Watching CC cricket at the Oval is a thing of beauty. Unfortunately I made the fatal error of buying tickets for the Test before the domestic fixtures came out...a big boo boo!

I'm going on day one. Should be a weaker Surrey batting line up with Pope, Smith and Lawrence all playing in the Test match. Although Surrey have the happy knack of someone like Ryan Patel or Ben Geddes chipping in with a ton when they get a chance. Sam Curran might play and he's handy with the willow. Worrall and Clark will be a handful, not sure if the slippery Tom Lawes is fit or not. Let's have a look at the squads when they're released.

Weather looks ok bar perhaps Thursday pm... Bottom of table clash with Kent away at Worcs. Surrey last 5 games - 1 loss and four wins. A draw would suit us for both games....

Disappointed not to see Phil Salt and Luke Wood in the squad. I second that Alan... Managing workloads my arse. Do Lancashire take us for idiots? Re Salt , I mentioned on this forum at the start of the season that we would be lucky to see him once the disgusting ECB get their greedy mitts on him (even though he currently hasn't got an England contract), it will be a gentle tap on the shoulder to the ever obliging Lancashire hierarchy. I also mentioned 12 months ago that someone very close to the team told me that Wood was concentrating on white ball cricket, something that Carl Crowe strongly denied when I asked him, well in the last 12 months Wood hasn't made one appearance in the County Championship. Mahmood played in Sunday's final, has a far more reason to have his workload 'managed' yet is in the squad. Wood has bowled 30 balls in the last fortnight.

I don't think Wood will play another 4 day game unless he stops getting invites to t20 competitions.
I think Aspinwall Boyden and Flintoff will be the three to miss out.
Surrey are top again and on course for three titles in a row. Oh to have their depth of talent. If we lost our three best players to the test side we would barely be second division standard!
We look to have a reasonable side out. I hope Bell can find some form. I have no time for Surrey so hope we can repeat last year's win down there.

Sam Curran and Will Jacks both willing to play for Surrey but Salt and Wood both "managing their workloads." Read into that what you will. Noone even bothers to mention Livingstone (rightly).

Taking a guess
Burns, Sibley, Patel, Sudharsan, Foakes, Jacks, Curran, Clark, Overton, Lawes, Worrall. v Jennings, Wells, Bohannon, Balderstone, Iyer, Bell, Hurst, Hartley, Bailey, Mahmood, Williams
I will be more interested in watching this than the Test....

Makes you wonder how much is down to the individual players and how much is down to their environment. I imagine Alex Stewart is more effective at managing players and dealing with the ECB than our DOC.
