Went to Lancs site to find out who was playing against Hants and saw 2nd XI was playing against Derbys. Shocked at Blatherwick's figures 15.4-2-65-8! He bowled well, but says more about the standard of second eleven cricket! Bailey bowled 8 overs and not a wicket

Anderson won't play for us while the tests are taking place. He might play for us after that as it would be a bit of a waste to get himself fit just to play two matches all season. No chance of him playing for us next season. Unless the ball swings, Anderson has proved easy to hit in T20. Since he hasn't played since 2009 www.espncricinfo.com/series/england-tour-of-south-africa-2009-10-387551/south-africa-vs-england-2nd-t20i-387564/full-scorecard it's hard to say what he will be like. I’m sure I won’t be the only one who can remember him being carted around in the 2014 T20 final, when it looked like we might restrict the Bears to a below par total!

Doubt we will see Salt and Wood in whites again.

Looks to me the side thats been picked is to try its best and get a draw . Theres no way that bowling attack bowls them out twice .

I don't see the point of Iyer in the team, carded at 8 so presumably in the team for his bowling but not used in the morning session.

A depressing morning. Looks to me like Jennings opted to bowl not because there was anything in it for our three seamers, more like he was more concerned about what their seamers would do to our top order. Hampshire have batted very patiently knowing we have limited bowling options. Lancashire appear very flat in the field, a team with no confidence whatsoever. Hope I'm wrong but they are heading one way and it isn't up.

Awful team selection, screams of a management that doesn't know what it's doing - as Alan said, an overseas player that can't bowl at eight on the scorecard. Awful, just awful.

A reader on the Guardian cricket blog returning to county cricket after ten years away asked a question about Lancashire cricket. This was the answer another punter gave.
“Behind the scenes Lancs are a bit of a mess, the coaching and player development side seems not to be working properly, there seems to be little long-term player development planning, we don't know our best first team in any format, there's no obvious prioritasation of competitions, the hiring and retention policy is poor, and the first team coach and director of cricket positions are held by people who wouldn't get a job at any other county.
The frustrating thing is that the playing talent is there, especially in the younger players, but we've coasted along for too long assuming that there will always be a new talented youngster along to replace anyone we fail to develop - and Lancashire's record at failing to develop good players is absolutely unparalleled, unfortunately.”
Pretty well spot on although in their statement about looking for investment from India , Lancs claimed to have the best pathway in cricket !

Given Hants were 158 for 1 at least it’s a bonus to pick up three bowling points. Cue the last pair carrying on batting for ages.
Warwickshire in a strong position after day one, looking for their first win of the season.
Notts and Worcs both struggling at the moment so bit of hope for us there.
Mind you, we’ve been relegated four times already so it wouldn’t be anything we’re not used to.
