.......condemning the decision to release Parkinson. I thought Parky wanted to leave rather than Lancs released him?Currently 10C here in Manc dread to think what its like at Dunham...all praise to those there...Strangely MITS the one bit of brightness amongst two and a half days of gloom has been the weather! Apart from the first morning the weather has been pretty decent. We've found a spot behind the bowlers arm in the little temporary stand which shields you from the wind and you benefit from total sun all day. The coats have been off with suncream and sunglasses on! ... now back to saving this match!

110 overs were completed Mark so we only picked up one bowling point. Thanks John, apologies everyone, that didn’t occur to me until just now. That’s what happens when you get old!

Had a quick look at our Twitter to see 49 for 1 at tea, looked hopeful of a fight back. Looked immediately afterwards at BBC Cricket, 52 for 3.

Just got home after watching first two days. That was enough. I noticed again how much our coaches and the warm ups seemed like amateur hour compared to the opposition. Anyway on to the sackings and resignations this evening or tomorrow morning. Serious cricket club or laughing stock comedy club?

Why hasn't Iyer come into bat? He is injured? Deemed incapable of making a substantial contribution?

Why hasn't Iyer come into bat? He is injured? Deemed incapable of making a substantial contribution? He was eight places too high at four. They know he isn't going to last until the close if he comes in over an hour before the end of play. But hey let's extend his contract.

Why hasn't Iyer come into bat? He is injured? Deemed incapable of making a substantial contribution? He's been off the pitch all day so presumably he can only come in to bat at a certain time. I've no idea what's up with him, he was walking round the pitch with a couple of the coaching staff half an hour ago.

Bell looked to be outdone by a good ball, but what a stupid shot from Wells.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first three days at Taunton but it has been bitterly cold pretty well everywhere we’ve tried. Someone commented on here recently that the stupid strategy of everyone back on the boundary was common to all clubs. Somerset were ahead in the match today until a brainless 40 minutes of bowling to Tom Curran with number ten or eleven. He’s a decent cricketer but he isn’t Bradman. At least Somerset didn’t forget to bring them in on balls five and six like Jennings did. I predicted the Somerset collapse post lunch after that and Surrey had all the momentum . The last wicket stand with the injured Tom Banton was great fun and could make tomorrow interesting . Hopping into the crease from square leg, Banton proved Tendulkar’s theory that good hand eye coordination is more important than good footwork. It was like a Monty Python scene but very effective. Surrey didn’t make the mistake of putting all the fielders back for the last two wickets although they were more defensive than I thought was sensible.

Chickens coming home to roost after some of the most incompetent cricketing decisions you could possibly make. The standout being appointing the head coach of the worst team in the County Championship. Who knew it would turn out like this !

Maybe Benkenstein can apply for the N'hants job.

That reverse sweep by Wells must go down as one of the brainless shots of the season, given the state of the match.
I heard that the coaches wanted Parky to bowl quicker but he refused to change. He's taken lots of wickets for Kent this season but they have been expensive. Hartley's trying to copy him but leaving out the taking lots of wickets bit.

SP to be fair Hartley got his 5 fer yesterday... for the season! It's a glorious morning up here and the forecast is for a pleasant day so if the miracle is going to happen it's the batsmen who have to do it and not the weather.

Will be over by lunch I fear. There is no belief in the side, they are just awaiting the inevitable.
