Lancashire players in the IPL auction Butler, Livingstone, Salt, Wood and Anderson. Auction takes place 24th and 25th November. Will be interesting to see how Jimmy gets on. If I was picking the Lancashire T20 team Jimmy would not be an automatic selection, my opening bowlers would be Wood and Mahmood, Jimmy would be in the mix as a backup seamer with Aspinwall, Balderson and Bailey. He can probably adapt his game to T20 but I would be sceptical about picking him when he has been out of white ball cricket for so long and then there is also the question about what he would contribute in the field and with the bat. It goes without saying if I was picking the Championship team he would be the first bowler I would pick.

Mahmood doing well out in the West Indies - 9 wickets in the three T20s so far - surprised he isn't in that list...

He recently mentioned in an interview that he was considering the PSL which this year will overlap with the IPL....and the opening few weeks of the domestic season!

I wonder if Saqib's Pakistani heritage is a factor in him not playing in the IPL. There is not much love lost between India and Pakistan examples being Pakistan nationals not being allowed to play in the IPL and India currently refusing to play in Pakistan in the Champions Trophy next year.

Maybe it's best not to play for Lancs if he is not going to get a chance with the white ball.

Could well be. I seem to recall that Saqib had to miss all or part of the Lions tour to India some years back for the same reason. Remember thinking at the time that England should have pulled the Lions out of that tour when it happened.

Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed had difficulties getting their passports for the last England tour of India. Not sure Rashid has played much in the IPL despite being one of the best white ball leggies in the world.

For what it's worth the ECB has submitted a list of 18 players who will be fully available for the next three IPL seasons 2025 - 2027. Amongst them are Hinge, Bracket and Salt...In the coming months I may have to think of a character for Mr Salt
