Pleased for him and Saqib. They hand them out sooner than they used to but for a young batsman to average well over 40 after a reasonable number of games is quite something. I bet there aren't that many currently in county cricket who do.

If you take away his 231 against Gloucs his average in the CC this season is 13.62. He needs to get out of his slump pretty quickly, a season that looked full of promise for him is turning sour. Not helped by being asked to open the innings in the VB.

Knocked all momentum out of our innings and brought Kent back into it when they were struggling.
Hard to think he was tipped to play for England in May. I think with the change of coach and approach he is unlikely to get a go. Needs to develop his game like Wells as a solid defence and the patience to wait for the bad ball only gets you so far as today showed

Yep, fully agree with whats been said here. Today reminded me of several other batting performances recently, where the openers got a decent start. Then one of them gets out and momentum is completely stopped. I get it, a new man in gets himself settled while the guy already in continues to play. But thats not happening with Josh recently. He's not getting settled and then gets out with a low score having chewed up a bunch of balls. And management seems to have no other options at 3.

Chapple Onions Crowe are all specialist bowlers and Krikken works with the 2s

Josh Bohannon is an excellent red ball player. I wouldn't pick him for T20s, looking at the players available for the RLC I think he is the best option to bat at three. I don't think it would be a good idea to push Croft, Vilas, Jones or Balderson up to three. I think Bohannon has done okay in the RLC not great but okay.
With regard to his innings yesterday he did struggle the Kent bowling was tight and the fielding sharp when he came in. Croft also struggled to get going at the start of his innings.
