Another good season. Most players in the modern area that average 40+ in the championship go on to play Test cricket but a handful do not, I couldn't call it with JB. Not sure he fits in with Bazball although his SR seems to have increased this season. Do people think he'd be a success if he made it into the Test team?

As you say , difficult to call OE. I’m not sure he would feel comfortable with the Bazball set up. I think the Lancashire Way may actually suit him where he isn’t pressurised to score faster than his natural game.
Interesting to note that having been left out of the Test team, Bazball doesn’t seem to have set Alex Lees back. I was reading that his strike rate has increased in all forms of cricket albeit second division four day. Lancashire players sometimes seem to come back diminished by the international set up .
Maybe JB will be our version of James Hildreth although ( and this would be sacrilege in Somerset), when I saw Hildreth live he always looked a bit loose for a Test player. He did make Lancs suffer a few times, however. David Sales and Mal Loye were two other high quality players who never got the chance to play Test cricket although I won’t forget Loye slog sweeping Brett Lee for six in an ODI.

FWIW I think he would be a high quality number 3, I would of preferred him to be selected ahead of Pope in 2022, but that ship seems of sailed for now.
When I have seen him this season he has been playing more shots, probably aware of the fact that only hitters seem to have much chance of playing in the Bazball era. A shame as he is a classical player, but I suspect he will be waiting a long time for a call up. All he can do is continue to score as heavily as possible for Lancs an hope I guess.

[br I'd bat Baldy at 3 and Bohannon at 4. Think Baldy will be just as good a player. Fwiw Root, Stokes and Bairstow are all the wrong side of 30 so Bohannon will get his chance.

I noticed in the end of season figures in The Cricket Paper that he actually had the highest strike rate in the batsmen except for Essex’s Lawrence . I suspect our bowling pies at Lawrence at Blackpool may have deprived him of that honour.

Bohannon and Jennings both in the England Lions squad to tour India concurrent to the Test team, indeed Bohannon has been named captain. Seems a little odd given Keaton is in the squad.

Looking high quality as always today. 93 no captaining englans lions against england a. Still seems a long way from a test call up though. Lawrence and probably Salt ahead of him.

Went on to make 125 in that innings. Jennings scored 154 and then 64 in the 2nd innings in a match that was drawn. Neither Bohannon nor Jennings contributed much in the following two 'tests' which were both won by India. Ollie Robinson twice top-scored in those next two 'tests'. Perhaps England have called him up to replace Wood for his batting!?
