So the high performance review recommends less cricket. Meanwhile a 38 year old plays in every County Championship match, every Royal London Cup match, every Vitality Blast match and plays so well he earns a new contract. Over to you Mr Strauss.

Don't know why but I always think of Trevor Jesty when I watch Croft play, and I have for a while now, which is strange because Jesty was a genuine allrounder, maybe they were both just destined to be nearly men.

At the age of 37 and in his 18th season of first team cricket, Croft has achieved his best ever aggregate of runs:-
First class/ List A/ T20/ Total
2010: 883/436/394 1,713
2011: 842/494/380 1,716
2022: 837/385/548 1,770

I'm guessing he played far more first-class cricket in 2010 and 2011 than he did this season?
And has the nonsense that is T20 really been going that long? Thought it was more recent.

2010: 16 F/C games 2011: 17 F/C games 2022: 14 F/C games
The T20 started in 2003, so this was its 20th season.

Cheers DT, I really didn't think there had been that much first-class cricket this season, and I'd be hopeless in a pub quiz if the deciding question was what year T20 started as I'd have guessed circa 2012!

Is he the only player who is yet to renew his contract? Assuming all those initial rookie contracts were for two years. They never say anything about Anderson.

Opting out of the one day comp was indication he might want to just play the shortest form.

Nearly, still playing T20. "Lancashire Cricket can announce that Steven Croft has signed a T20 only contract for the 2024 season and has also joined the Club’s coaching staff on a full-time basis."
Is it me, or does this article fail to say what his role within the coaching staff actually is? Do you think they know, does he have a jd? All it does say is what coaching he has done in the past.

It's certainly a lot less clear than Nottinghamshire have been about Steven Mullaney's new role. The Lancashire way? The timing of the appointment seems odd unless they pretty much have a new Head Coach in the bag.
