Quite an unbelievable situations.
Of all the countries cricket is played in world wide, the last place you would have expected a touring team to almost be struck down in a terror attack would be NZ.
The world is a crazy place sadly.

You are quite right, Crusty. I am actually in New Zealand at the moment visting family and that was what shocked people most – that something like that could happen in what they had always regarded as a safe haven away from the rest of the world.
I saw some of the second Bangladesh Test in Wellington. They were well outplayed but one of their people made the point that they need more matches like this to get used to the conditions, particularly the wickets prepared for pace bowlers. You may think it's the same for both sides but he was making the point that at home, their pace bowlers never get the chance to work out how to bowl on wickets like that since it's all spin there. The couple of people I talked to were really nice and I was sad their tour had to end so horrifically.

Indeed. Which is what makes Cricket Australia's decision last year to cancel their 2 Test home series against Bangladesh, citing reasons along the lines of it not being "cost effective", all the more disappointing.
The top level Cricket Associations have a duty to the game to help to improve the smaller nations. Perhaps one idea would be to have an Annual Test series, in which Bangladesh, Ireland, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe play each other twice, and the winner gets to play a one off test against one of England, Australia or India (rotating every year between the three).
