No ; don’t worry he’s not been brought back although he’s only 53. Went to see him as an after dinner speaker last night. Not hilarious like Geoff Miller but still a very interesting listen . Came over as a very likeable man even if he was a bit wild in his youth.
Don’t think it was just for effect that he said that Lancashire was his major love as a county. He said the only reason he left was to be close to the treatment for his ill daughter. He didn’t want to go to Derbyshire for any other reason. Also said it was the first time he had ever put his family before cricket.
Has anyone read his autobiography? Thought that might be a few copies available to buy last night but no sign. It was published a year ago.
As an aside, other than the friend I went with, I did not know anybody on my table but Sedbergh got the thumbs down from everyone and pretty well unanimous dislike for Allott too.
