Positive tests in the Nottinghamshire based side will they be stealing players from the RL 50?

I have enjoyed The Hundred. I had little interest in it and was very sceptical of the franchise system, however because I have a long term injury I had a lot of spare time to spend sitting around watching TV and I enjoyed it. For me the positives are:
It has been brilliant for the women's game. It has shown a franchise system can work along side the County system. It has generated interest and money for the game.
The negatives I see: The One Day Cup has become a development competition. The format isn't significantly different from T20 to justify itself. Personally I don't buy into the franchise system and found myself following Lancashire players rather than supporting one of the teams.

The negatives I see: The One Day Cup has become a development competition. The format isn't significantly different from T20 to justify itself. Personally I don't buy into the franchise system and found myself following Lancashire players rather than supporting one of the teams. I haven’t watched any of it but it became impossible to ignore the totally positive wall to wall media. It has been brilliant for the women's game: Agreed, at the top end, but there were comments that 8 franchises were maybe too many at the moment - talent a little thinner and it will be interesting to see how quickly the ECB address the pay imbalance.
It has shown a franchise system can work along side the County system: I think my jury is still out on this one. Will be interesting to watch player movement between counties but also will it help recruit overseas stars like Finn Allen so that they are coincidentally over here playing county cricket and so find themselves in a franchise by default?
It has generated interest and money for the game: interest certainly in the short term but long term they need to work to keep the new audience and lend it to county cricket / test matches. The Hundred had to delete a tweet this morning saying: "now it’s over what is there to do till next year" which was met by a barrage of replies about should you not be directing your new audience to T20QF, the CC and The England / India tests. And not sure yet about the money. Tickets given away? The One Day Cup has become a development competition: I don’t think it is, it has been very well received. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/58276288 it just needs to be taken seriously, like some counties did. If Lancashire had taken it seriously and replaced Shreyas Iyer they would surely have qualified and maybe reached the final.
The format isn't significantly different from T20 to justify itself. Agreed bound to be tweaked.Personally I don't buy into the franchise system and found myself following Lancashire players rather than supporting one of the teams. It will be interesting to see if references to “Birmingham Phoenix’s Liam Livingstone" continue in the media. It will also be interesting to see how many of the franchises retain their playing squads or largely start again each year. None of the overseas players in the final were originally drafted all were replacements sought just before or during the competition - will they get a gig next year? Or will they revert to Warner, Stoinis, Maxwell, Russell etc?

Not watched a moment of it, no affinity for Franchise sides simple as that, give it five years as the novelty of it drops and crowds will drop, the only way of keeping it interesting is to tweak with it every year otherwise it will just become another limited overs game of white ball cricket. Yes it may have attracted a few new fans to the game but the vast majority of twenty somethings will have gone there for a night on the razzle. As for overseas players next season doubt whether we see Aussies as they will probably still be under lockdown this time next year
The 50 0ver competition received scant coverage in the media as does the 4 day game this week, still think it's the ECB grand thinking to get rid of 10 counties so the Franchise can play all forms
Sadly looks like the powers that be want to change the game for the worse however there is a sort of irony that the South African with the over inflated ego KP thinks Franchise sides are the way to go whilst in his native South Africa they are getting rid of them and next year those quaint South African teams such as Griquiland West and Orange Free State will be in Wisden again

I've watched some of the games but, given the choice between a hundred game and the last day of the West Indies test, I picked the latter.
One of the arguments for the hundred was that TV wanted a shorter version of the game but, due to Covid, they ended up with two games on the same day but were happy to broadcast for over 6+ hours. So I can't see why the blast can't be televised to the same effect.
Lots of the players were new to me...e.g. Linott of the winning side who got brought into this tournament from local cricket. One issue I can see long term is more county players following Eoin Morgan and only playing white ball cricket and so leaving their clubs. With the IPL, the Big Bash, the Hundred and the other leagues you can make a good living. Who wants to be fielding at Derby in April?
Test cricket has the prestige but it's difficult to maintain a long term career e.g. James Bracey. You are subject to much more detailed criticism. Imagine the comment if you got out hooking furst ball in a Test match against doing the same thing in the IPL..

In reality he has already played for Warwickshire in the county championship and the T20 blast this year (second highest wicket taker for them with 15 that’s more than any Lancs player this year). Also played in all their T20 games last year (10 wickets). Prior to that he had not had a successful career playing a few T20 blast matches for Gloucestershire in 2018 and one for Hampshire in 2017 and has had a minor county career with Dorset and Wiltshire since 2011 and was even in the prestigious ESCA Bunbury under15s regional tournament in 2008 representing the South & West.

I wonder how the Royal London feels about it. Getting very limited publicity TV wise for their sponsorship.

Indeed, the main part of their sponsorship are the one day internationals but it won't help.

Tom Bailey has apparently placed a £125,000 price on his services (the top reserve price) in the draft. I guess he doesn't want to be drafted. So why enter the draft? Otherwise only Bell, Blatherwick, Croft, Jones, Lamb, Lavelle, Morley, Parkinson and Wells plus Vilas have entered the draft. So Jennings, Balderson, Bohannon, Boyden, Williams, Hurst, Aspinwall available to Lancashire (although I suspect only Parkinson likely to be drafted). More overseas in draft that UK players. link
