Big question will it start on time this year due to Corona Virus suspect we are getting close to a point were all sporting activity is cancelled for a period of time They are not travelling to Dubai and South Africa for their second pre-season tour, in order to avoid any possibility of having the entire squad quarantined for two weeks (or arrival to / from overseas), despite the UK having more confirmed cases than either of those countries.
Assuming politicians don't lose their heads outside sporting events should not be cancelled. Viruses last far longer indoors than outdoors surely theatre and cinemas need to be hit first, especially some of the matinees I've been to in the past, what with the average audience age and the amount of coughing!

Completely agree Chris but I wouldn’t bet on commonsense being the determinant of what happens.

ECB have announced tonight that the county cricket will be delayed until at least 28th May, the start of the T20 competition. That means Lancashire's first six county championship matches will postponed.
Statement from ECB CEO Tom Harrison
“During this period of deep uncertainty it is the ECB’s first priority to protect the wellbeing of everyone within the cricket family, from players, to fans and colleagues across the game.’’
ECB will continue to monitor the situation.

“Securing the future of the game will be a primary focus as we plot a revised schedule with an emphasis on the most financially important forms of the game for the counties across international and domestic cricket.’’
I doubt therefore there will much more than the Tests, ODIs, the Hundred and the Blast - at best.

This year’s contracts of Watling, Maxwell and Faulkner are cancelled

This year’s contracts of Watling, Maxwell and Faulkner are cancelled Watling and Maxwell I am sure there was no choice with. Whilst not wanting to criticise the decision I do regard Faulkner as a Lancashire player and wonder whether there was any possibility of treating him the same way as other Lancashire players. Having watched cricket when County loyalty meant a lot more than it does now, I do like the idea of a regular Lancashire Player and Faulkner seems to be one who is more committed than most overseas players these days. Again. I don’t know enough about the situation to criticise, but I do regard him as more than just someone who will turn out for whoever pays the most money.
