I'll give them credit for this, they have seen the light
Lancashire Cricket is pleased to announce a brand-new, leading live streaming service open to all Members and supporters for the remainder of the 2020 season.
Consisting of a seven camera setup, including ball-tracking and roaming cameras, the new service successfully took place for the first Bob Willis Trophy fixture of the season between Lancashire and Leicestershire at New Road, and was restricted to the Club’s Members to thank them for their loyalty over the course of this year. For the rest of the season, it will be available to all cricket supporters.
This replaces the two static camera system the Club has run for a number of years, and has been developed alongside My Action Replay, a Bristol based automated streaming and video indexing technology organisation and Salford-based production company, Badger and Coombes. The Club will stream all fixtures that are not being televised on Sky Sports.
The manned, ball-tracking cameras at either end of the field, allow viewers to follow the ball off the square and watch all the key moments including catches, run outs and other key moments that would normally be missed using the static cameras.
These are supplemented by five additional cameras to complement the match action, including a commentators’ camera, with live commentary for all games provided by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Scott Read and his counterpart from opposition clubs.
Coverage is also enhanced by pre-match interviews, highlights catch ups before the start of play and live replays throughout the course of the day, while exclusive Lancashire Cricket content will also be played during the intervals.
In an unprecedented move, Lancashire are providing this level of coverage for all away Bob Willis Trophy fixtures, starting with tomorrow’s match against Durham at Emirates Riverside.
Lancashire Cricket Chief Executive, Daniel Gidney, said: “We are pleased to be able to open up our streaming service to all Red Rose supporters and the wider cricketing community.
“With the changes to broadcast rights effective from this season opening up new and improved opportunities, we have significantly invested in our streaming service. First-Class cricket remains a top priority for all at the Club and this includes on our digital platforms.
“We had some very positive feedback on the new stream from the Club’s Members and it was nice to hear Leicestershire’s Head Coach, Paul Nixon, commentating on it in his post-match interview at Blackfinch New Road last week, such was the level we have managed to achieve in a short space of time.
“It is more important than ever that we are able to connect with Members and supporters at this time. Given we are still unable to welcome spectators to grounds, this enhanced stream gives all Red Rose supporters the best opportunity to keep abreast of the on-field action and show their support for the county.”

So why switch to side on when Luke Wood is bowling and show a replay again from side on and so not covering the LBW at all. Who is the director?
Jumps around too much and if watching in the Match Centre on their website drops out every time it reloads.
But better than previous seasons, step in the right direction.

Just watched their "highlights" and they totally missed both run outs, as well as several other wickets. They don't seem to know which camera to use. Need to employ a professional, if they want to be professional. Easy to criticise, but you end up having to watch the wickets from the static cameras without commentary and without the huge banner at the bottom - and since when do wides and no balls come before wickets and runs on the bowlers analysis? |
