Well folks, at least there is no bastardised form of cricket known as 2021. Should’ve known that a year called 2020 would be awful.
Apart from the crap we’ve all had to put up with, having Long Covid myself, my mum no longer recognising me , bad diagnoses in long standing friends, its been great. Enjoyed the short league cricket season ; one of few positives. Also very glad I went back to work in 2016 as I would’ve been totally insane otherwise.
I hope there are good things ahead for forum members in 2021.

Now working from home, Des, was going to retire in March but getting paid from walking to m bedroom is a no brainer, sorry to here about the crap you've gone through Des, hopefully a long hot summer watching a red missile being propelled to allparts of the ground will make life so much better.

I like conferences, all 18 teams have a chance to win the championship and the Bob Willis Cup. I wonder what division two and three to play for? Dates of tournament- will it be in April, May, and September? Would assume the first group stages April- June next round September heard a rumour final is in October, as for getting in to games be positive I think we will unless we are under lock down for the 87th time. Personal view think they have to give it a go, only doing it this way due to uncertainty due to Covid, but suspect it is the future happy with the 14 games. #Still undecided on membership do not want two bricks in the wall Sorry I cannot buy into this propaganda, Covid is irrelevant. We either play or not, and if it is play crowds are another question. Even if I arranged the fixtures, totally opposed to most ECB ideas, I cannot imagine any format whereby first class fixtures are not the only format before the end of May. So these groups are really just another way of reducing matches from in my time 28 matches to the current 14. They have already destroyed spin bowling, reduced batting and bowling to non-summer conditions. Now debutant test players will be warming up potentially against sub-standard opposition. You cannot concentrate high quality into 18 teams. I'd go for three divisions, with play offs in groups of four during September to get final placings. Whichever way you cut it first class has an optimum number of six across the world outside the populous sub-continent. Not 18.

All your points are relevant however cash is king these days long gone are the days when County Chairmen were cicket men they are all business men these days. Personal view play each other once 17 three day games, play your one day stuff at the weekends and ditch the blundred, won't happen personal view what will happen is what we will get next season, three groups of six played early season and in September. Never been able to figure out playing one day games in the height of summer actually helps the test side but as they rarely play county cricket these days seems not to matter. Thanks for your input CCCynic very welcome

Warwickshire chairman thinks spectators in by June by which time the 4 day season will be virtually over, was a story in the Mail although take with a pinch of salt that they may switch the blast too after the Blundred and play it August/September with the proviso that the bellends at the ECB were thinking about cancelling the four day season which I wouldn't put past them, we'll see

Yorkshire end of May Old Trafford be there or be square it will be our first game into watch Anyone know if there are tickets available for this? I can see nothing on the Lancs site. I’m not a member - live in Hull, so since the club abandoned the out of town membership, it’s not been something I could justify - so just wondering if there is a plan for this of which anyone is aware. All thoughts welcomed!
