I'm sure I won't be the only one to be pleasantly surprised at our good start to the season: two big wins and a maximum points draw (which could well have been a win but for the weather). Thanks to an unusually dry month, we've been able to play on good pitches instead of damp seamers and it's been great to see Parkinson playing before late August. Nice to see Kerrigan back to form with Northants and a shame, albeit helpful to Lancs, that he couldn't bowl in the second innings. Excellent last day performance against Kent.

Looking through the current crop, I was struck that a clutch of players are all of that mid-20s age, progressing from their developmental years to their prime, so you'd expect them to be playing at their peak levels.
Davies, Bohannon, Lamb, Jones, Wood, Mahmood, Parkinson, all of them are between 24-26 years old, and apart from Wood have all come through the Lancs system, which will have contributed to the team spirit they've been showing. Save for Jones they've all made important contributions in the 3 matches so far as well, long may it continue.
The next opponents, Sussex, seem to be trying to form their own 'next generation', giving lots of younger players a go (perhaps the cause of Luke Wells' departure), but having a veteran presence to learn from is surely too valuable to dismiss.
