rent Bridge Cricket Ground is a cricket ground mostly used for Test, One-Day International and county cricket located in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England, just across the River Trent from the city of Nottingham. Trent Bridge is also the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. As well as international cricket and Nottinghamshire's home games, the ground has hosted the Finals Day of the Twenty20 Cup twice and will host the final of the One-Day Cup between 2020 and 2024. In 2009, the ground was used for the ICC World Twenty20 and hosted the semi-final between South Africa and Pakistan. The site takes its name from the nearby main bridge over the Trent and it is also close to Meadow Lane and the City Ground, the football stadiums of Notts County and Nottingham Forest. Trent Bridge was first used as a cricket ground in the 1830s. The first recorded cricket match was held on an area of ground behind the Trent Bridge Inn in 1838.[2] Trent Bridge hosted its first Test match in 1899, with England playing against Australia. The ground was first opened in 1841 by William Clarke, husband of the proprietress of the Trent Bridge Inn[2] and himself Captain of the All England Cricket Team. He was commemorated in 1990 by the opening of the new William Clarke Stand which incorporates the Rushcliffe Suite. The West Park Sports Ground in West Bridgford was the private ground of Sir Julien Cahn, a furniture millionaire, who often played host to touring national sides. In 1950, an electronically-operated scoreboard was installed at this venue, then the world's largest at any cricket stadium.[3] Ground The pavilion during a County Championship match in 2007 Trent Bridge is considered to be one of the best grounds in the world to watch cricket.[4] Trent Bridge's pavilion, kept within the architectural parameters of its 1889 foundation, is thought of as one of the most renowned trademarks of cricket because it faces the wicket at an angle.[citation needed] Recent developments include the £7.2 million Radcliffe Road Cricket Centre, opened in 1998 and the state of the art £1.9 million Fox Road stand, which has received awards for its architectural excellence.[5] The latter includes a modernistic aircraft-wing roof and was opened in 2002 despite a conflict with a small group of local residents over the lack of sunlight that this would cause to their properties.[citation needed] Commencing in 2007, Trent Bridge has undergone redevelopment with the construction of a new stand to replace the Parr Stand and West Wing and the addition of one to five rows of extra seating at the front of several of the other stands.[6] This increased capacity from 15,358 to 17,500,[7] and the work was completed in time for the 2008 Test match against New Zealand. The stand was officially opened on 5 June by Prince Philip.[8] The stand continued to be officially called the ’New Stand’ for a number of years, also being referred to as the Bridgford Road Stand,[9] before being renamed the Smith Cooper Stand in a sponsorship deal from March 2016.[10]

I take it a green wicket. Perhaps Livingstone is troubled by his shoulder or have they given up on him as a red ball batter? Some information would be nice.
Leaves Wells as the 5th bowler which is a bit of a risk. Plenty of batting we have picked a team for a low scoring seamers pitch. Hope we can out gun them.

George Balderson is down to open again? Does anybody understand the rational for that? Has opened for the second team or in club cricket? To me looks he like a promising all rounder should be batting at 7 or 8 in this batting line up. With Davies back I would have Davies, Wells, Bohannon as the top three.

A strange, unbalanced team. I can't see a reason for leaving out either Livingstone or Parkinson, especially as Notts who should know their wicket have picked a spinner. Croft wasn't even in the original squad of 13.
If we're going to shell catches as we have just done, it's going to be a long haul for our three front-line bowlers.

TEAM: Lancashire: Wells, Davies, Bohannon, Vilas (capt), Croft, Jones, Balderson,Lavelle (wkt), Lamb, Bailey, Mahmood.
Croft could do some bowling though "Steven Croft is going off with an injury to his left hand after stopping the ball at third slip".
I hope Parky being dropped is not due to him being overbowled in the last game.... Openers likely to be Wells and Davies...

Having inserted the opposition for reasons that are not at all clear, we are letting Notts run away with it. It's true that they've had a bit of luck but mostly we haven't bowled with any accuracy, apart from Bailey, and it looks a good batting pitch.

On the TV the pitch seemed to have a green tinge so that probably is the reason for inserting. Elsewhere Yorkshire have Somerset 9 wickets down and Hants all out for 89 against Warks..

Lancs have belatedly revealed that Livingstone is unwell following his second Covid jab.

You'd think that experienced cricketers would know that a green tinge isn't enough to justify bowling first at Trent Bridge. Moreover, having put Notts in, Lancs persisted all morning with attacking fields, rather than admit their mistake, and gifted Notts a hatful.

272 a.o. Very good comeback in the circumstances. Notts will be really disappointed considering that at one time they looked on for 400. I wonder if Mahmood wasn't fully fit coming into this match. He has bowled very fast but has also given the batsmen too much to hit.
