Obviously don't see Livi as a test player I've never seen him as more than a one day player ever since he made his debut. Looked a four player in his debut season (2016) although helped batting at 7: First eight matches 591 runs at 98.50:
70 dnb , 108* dnb, 0 dnb , 4 60* , 23 dnb , 60* 24 , 34* 106* , 58 dnb
Ended the season at 815 @51, even in 2017 (batting higher) 803 @47.
Lancashire then made him club captain after being stand-in uncapped captain in a few games in early 2017. Clearly rated as a four day player then, but highly questionable decision.

“Do we think there’s a player there of high potential across all disciplines: batting, bowling and fielding? Yes, without question,” Bobat said of Livingstone. “He’s someone we’ll keep having an interest in. But from a red-ball perspective, put simply it felt like there were other players ahead of him right now.”

The modern day cricketer in a nut shell chasing the riches playing pub cricket by not playing the red ball, won't be the last player o realise later in life playing for your country was always more important than your bank balance

I would say the first step he showed take would be not to go to the IPL next year and spend his time playing red ball cricket for Lancashire.

I would say the first step he showed take would be not to go to the IPL next year and spend his time playing red ball cricket for Lancashire. Some chance. Only last month, with Lancashire facing matches that could have won them the championship, he abandoned ship and skipped off back to the IPL. He was very much on the Test list just a few seasons ago when he scored those two much-praised centuries for the Lions in Sri Lanka. The fact that he couldn't make either squad this winter shows that the way he is now viewed.
