No fixtures confirmed yet for the seconds. One fixture confirmed for the academy (away v Shropshire on 10 April).
Plenty of interest though:
Josh Boyden has taken 13 wickets for the England under 19s at an average of less than 10 and an econ rate just over 3. Only two bowlers taken more wickets in the tournamant. Dulith Wellalage only bower having a better tournament has already played first class cricket in Sri Lanka (more wickets 17, average very slightly better 9.35). Boyden has best econ rate for a bowler taking 10 wickets.
Of course these stats could change after the India / Australia semi, the Final and the other remaining play off games. Still more than creditable.
Boyden, Bell and Aspinwall have played all of England U19s games so far. It’s 7 years since Lancs have 3 in the England u19s side: Hameed, Mahmood and Parkinson in 2015. Before that 2004/5 Smith, Mullaney, Miller and Simpson. All the talk, I’ve heard, is about Teague Wyllie (Aus) and Wellalage though. Wellalage has also scored a century. Boyden is yet to bat being the no.11 in a succesful side. Aspinwall at 9 has faced 1 ball.
Wonder how many games Boyden will get for the second XI this year? Could be nine contracted seam bowlers ahead of him in the queue for a game when fit and available (that’s assuming we don’t get an overseas fast bowler).

I would have given all 3 contracts. Hope there is something to stop the other two being poached.
In the past when we have had a player that makes the England under 19 team with any consistency as these 3 have, they have at least had a decent county career.
I was impressed with what I saw of these 3 and probably Boyden the most. Very encouraging

Seconds fixtures appear to be out for the southern sides, but not for the north yet! Far as I can see Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire have their 2nd xi fixtures on their website. From those Lancashire only play Middlesex at Northern 9-12 May.

I wonder why?
No information on either the Lancashire or the University websites. Nothing on FB or on twitter after the announcement. Only an optimistic hoping for improvement tweet after Day I was abandoned. Weather or Coronavirus, or simply a lack of interest?

Leicester 2nds Kibworth 4 day game starts 12/4/2022 Kibworth Cricket Club New Ground is a cricket ground in Kibworth, Leicestershire, England. The ground replaced the original Kibworth Cricket Club Ground which was sold for development at the end of the 2005 season. The New Ground is located directly next to the development which covers the old ground. The first match on the ground was in 2006, when Kibworth Cricket Club played a Leicestershire CCC XI as part of Darren Maddy's benefit year. The Leicestershire Second XI played the Warwickshire Second XI in the grounds first Second XI Championship fixture in August 2010.[1] The ground held its first Women's One Day International in 2010 when Ireland women played New Zealand. Days later it held it second when England women played Ireland women.[2] The ground is the home venue of Kibworth Cricket Club.[3] whose first XI play in the Leicestershire Premier Cricket League. @kibworthcc

Only 36 overs were managed throughout Day One as a combination of rain and then bad light prevented play.
Leicestershire reached 89-6 at close with Jack Nightingale 46 not out who will resume day with Roman Walker 1*.
Only two other batters managed to reach double figures with opening batsman Vikai Kelly making 13 and Nat Bowley (10) as the Lancashire seamers dominated.
Earlier in the day, Lancashire captain George Lavelle won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Hurt who picked up 3-33 was well supported by U19 World Cup star Josh Boyden as he took 2-16 and Jack Blatherwick 1-28.
