Read Test Outcast by Roy Marshall for the first time in 40+ years recently, forgotten how good a read it was.

Marshall always scored runs against us and if I'm correct teh last white West Indian test cricketer until Josh Da Silva.

Marshall always scored runs against us and if I'm correct teh last white West Indian test cricketer until Josh Da Silva. Brendan Nash and Geoff Greenidge apparently. Steve Camacho
Used to be common, even as captain, when the University educated led most teams

Good spot although Nash wasn't technically a West Indian being born in Western Australia.

Vaguely recall certain sections of the West Indian media focused more on the fact that Lionel Baker who made his debut in the same game as Nash became the first player from Montserrat to represent the West Indies in Test cricket.
Maybe it was because as Admin has mentioned he was born in Australia and they didn't consider him to be a West Indian, maybe they all wrote for the Montserrat Chronicle or the Leeward Island monthly(if such publications exist)

On a personal view rate Da Silva highly

Seconded, Ridley Jacobs and Denesh Ramdin were useful wicketkeeper/batsman, but it looks in Da Silva the Windies may well have found the new Jeffrey Dujon.

I'm look forward to Wisden Cricketer Alamanack 2022 which will be in the shops from 21st April. I have brought a couple of books recently: Farokh by Colin Evans in which you will find in the club shop, and Hitting Against The Spin How Cricket Really Works by Nathan Leamon and Ben Jones

I read the Derek Pringle autobiography recently, enjoyed it immensely. Very honest and I enjoyed the anecdotes from both Essex and England.
