Has had Covid-19 looks like he has left intensive care states he has back and hip pain and has lost the use of his legs has been in hospital for 17 days

Yes, best wishes to him. Covid is still absolutely rife but fortunately most of outcomes are better.

Looks like the end is near for Mr Gwynne That does make me sad. Great guy and great commentator. I dread to think how much of my very small wage I spent listening to him down the phone when that was the only way of keeping up with the score if you weren’t in touching distance of teletext. I am not really one for talking to people much so never really said anything more than hello to him but I do remember sitting (deliberately) a few rows in front of him at Southampton just listening to him talk about the match I was watching. Very memorable and very entertaining. My younger son will miss him too. Lancashire, Manchester City and Darts. Shared interests galore.
