A day when Salt, Buttler and Livingstone score 350 runs for England, oh to have had a combination of them at Northampton. Bohannon and Jones would be the first to admit that T20 is not their strongest suit.
Is Buttler likely to turn out in Lancashire colours at all this season?
Notts up next; I can see us having a bit of a struggle to get over the line despite a run of six wins on the bounce.

Brainless batting for the second game in succession. We are increasingly going to encounter used and worn pitches and the batters need to adapt, use their feet and rotate the strike instead of just standing there swiping. That said, our back-up resources do seem to be very thin and I'm inclined to agree that qualifying is not going to be as easy as it looked a couple of weeks ago. We're still top of the table but for how much longer? At least it won't be a used pitch at Blackpool.

Even if we get through, the qtrs and the finals day are around more white ball England games so we could be really hampered by call ups.

After a ponderous powerplay I think later players felt they really had to up the tempo to get a competitive score. A number of our batsmen are 4 day players really and we are left very thin on the players who do more than take singles if Salt and Livingstone are away.
If Buttler is living in London now I think he will sign for the Surrey all stars and he has played his last game for us as his contact is up.

The lack of home grown batsmen is worrying looking forward. There’s Bohannon, whose form this season, (apart from one innings) has dropped right off. The only other two are Jones, who’s been in and out of the side since 2016 without doing enough to warrant a regular place and Croft, having a good season but for how much longer? Another year after this maybe?
Jennings, Wells, Salt and Buttler all came from other counties and Vilas from abroad. I think it might have been Chris who said there weren’t (m)any names in the seconds screaming out to be selected. Lancashire’s a big county, surely there must be some talent to be unearthed.

Not only is the lack of homegrown batsmen worrying but we seem short of seam bowlers coming through the seconds. The two england under 19 bowlers don't seem to have featured much this year in the seconds although Boyden was in the squad for this T20 game.
Maybe people like Gary Yates were very good in getting young cricketers ready for the first team.

One problem is that there is always a demand from members and supporters to buy in from other counties. The noisiest of those, I suspect, will never have seen a second XI game and more than likely couldn’t name anyone who doesn’t reguarly play for the 1st XI.
When as you say 4 of the top six come from outside of the club, how do home grown players prove their ability and temperament?
Not that long ago when I mentoned Lavelle on here, it was suggested by a guest that he would be astonished if selected. Yet, this is a 22 year old who has scored over 1300 runs just in the 2nds 3 day format, and been top run scorer in that competition for the last three years (including this one). Averaging 52, 51, 31, 31, 26 over the last 6 years - no games in 2020). Yet we have given the gloves to Salt and when’s he’s absent Vilas claims them. Isn’t the problem at 1st XI level not in 2nd team? Simply no room. Nothing changes same happened to Simpson.

Aspinwall still absent from Kendal’s side today, hasn’t featured since April. The clear out of Moulton and Burrows last year, Lester plus Onions retiring the previous year plus Gleeson only having a T20 contract must mean they are happy with resources, barring injury. Only recuited Blatherwick, plus an overseas. From the seconds Gibbon, Aitchison both over looked turning up at other first class counties, and Sanders plays for Cheshire. Suspect Yates simply was around longer so had more success. How long has Karl Krikken been 2nd XI coach, one or two years maybe?

I agree that is a likely and I don't think he would be a loss to us. The last couple of weeks has shown that he has no interest in playing for us. I assume that the ECB gave him a sick note saying that he needs to rest between his stint in the IPL and trip to Amsterdam. I don't think having a player with his attitude on the books does the club any good. The attitude of Jimmy is a total contrast as far as I can see. Yes we would all like to see Jimmy play more games for us but when he is allowed to play by the ECB he turns up does a shift and I am sure has a positive influence on the dressing room.

It was me who said I would be astonished if Lavelle was selected for a T20 game, and I stand by that, at the time we had a full squad to choose from, unlike now. He hadn't done anything to suggest he could play that format better than those playing. He may get into the Royal London squad.
