Good question. Hurt has been around for quite a while now and it's difficult to understand why. However, the real architects of tonight's defeat were the batters (apart from Croft). We're still top of the table and now have the best NRR, thanks to Yorkshire thrashing Warwickshire, but a win tonight would have put us 7 points ahead of Derbyshire in 5th place and virtually guaranteed a QF place. An opportunity missed.

Hurt got away with a wide at the start of the over. He sees how Gleeson bowled fast straight and full so decides to bowl a floaty slower ball with mid on and off up. The next ball the guy knows he will bowl faster and shorter and is waiting to pull him for six.
A good athlete but not really professional standard. The worry is he seems to be out bowling Bladderwick in the seconds this year.

Captain Hndsight maybe, but if Wood isn’t available next time, how about giving Bailey a go?

I would have chosen George Balderson ahead of Liam Hurt. Would like to see Josh Boyden given a game.

Definitely - Hurt is just cannon fodder in T20. Northants have two sorts of pitch: high scoring flat ones and low scoring turners. If it's the first sort, Hurt will go for 14s if selected. If it's the second sort, we don't need more than two seamers and Morley should get a game.

Dane Vilas (C), Tom Bailey, Josh Bohannon, Josh Boyden, Steven Croft, Tim David, Richard Gleeson, Tom Hartley, Liam Hurt, Keaton Jennings, Rob Jones, Danny Lamb, Jack Morley, Matt Parkinson, Luke Wells 15 is a large squad, which means one of two things either they don’t know what the pitch will suit (play the extra spinner or not) or someone is carrying an undisclosed injury. Looking at the squad like this, do they really need Boyden, Hurt and Bailey in the squad unless someone has a slight injury: Jennings
Wells
Croft
Vilas
David
Bohannon/Jones
Lamb
Hartley
Gleeson
Morley/Boyden/Hurt/Bailey
Parkinson
not sure how much cricket Boyden has been playing of late, missing from the seconds since 18th April but returned on 3rd June. Played for Wigan on 28th May (bowled) and 4th June but did not bowl but bowled last weekend on 11th June. Which suggests they are being careful with him on his return to cricket after missing virtually all of May and Lancs did not allow him to bowl on two consecutive days.

Surprised to see Luke Wells come in at No8 after his performances in the Warwickshire game.
