Silly question, but in the absence of any announcement from the club regarding an overseas player to replace Hassan Ali, could David conceivably play his first ever first class game at the weekend as they slip in one championship game in the middle of the T20?

I suspect not, our last batting line up was: Jennings, Wells, Bohannon, Croft, Vilas, Salt. Would hope Balderson would come in before David. Jones or Lavelle for that matter.

But I also suspect when they contracted Hassan Ali for only the first six matches, they would not have bargained for Salt, Livingstone, Buttler and Wood being unavailable for this solitary championship match during the T20 fixtures. Add in Anderson and possibly Parkinson on England/drinks duty, potential injuries to Lavelle and Blatherwick, they might do something left field: David for Salt (Vilas to keep), Balderson at 7, Lamb, Hartley, Bailey and Hurt. Or as listed but Jones for David. Which would be more attractive to Lancs?

One of the if not the worst overseas signings the county has ever made ,No footwork what so ever no discpline , Bowl to him 6 to 8inches outside off stump and you will have him caught halfway to the boundry ,Poor shot selection every time he gets out

Can't disagree. His performances got worse and worse as the tournament went on. Only seems to be able to play on flat wickets.

I've not been impressed by David. I would expect a T20 international specialist to finish games for his team and David has not done this. One example was the away game against Derbyshire when we failed to chase 184 to win. David came in in the 12th over with Lancashire 107-3. David scored 42 off 23 balls, yes great figures but we failed to win. People including myself criticised Rob Jones for not being fluent enough. Derbyshire did well to keep David off strike but David as a T20 specialist should have taken charge of the situation spoken to Jones and got him to push a single and then taken the bowling on.
I thought it was interesting that Wells was promoted above David in the final yesterday. I think it was the right thing to do but clearly Lancashire had no faith in David playing a long innings to see us home.

Teams quickly worked him out. He relys on his reach and size which is ok on flat pitches against Indian medium pacers but he was a bit out of his depth here. Didn't give the impression of being particularly bothered by his and the teams struggles.
You pay the big bucks to win matches in the key passages and he failed to take responsibility on a few occasions. Miserable waste of money hopefully never to return.

Been poor for us in the knockouts. But guarantee if he signs for another county he plays a match winning innings against Lancs. Just our luck

I’ve just read that David played for Surrey last season in both the T20 and the RLC. Is/was his contract with us just for T20?
I was going to ask the same about Gleeson, but then remembered he’d picked up a Hundred gig.

Shame he chose the t20 final as an innings to show how he would play in a first class game.
