I agree with Des that Balderson was underused yesterday. Strikes me as an example of T20 thinking infecting the first class game. I also thought the umpire got the lbw wrong but these things happen. Overall, I thought Lancs did well to take 7 wickets on what was a very placid pitch. This season Balderson bowling figures are better than Woods.........surprised that rain hasn't played a bigger part but even so looking like a draw. Meanwhile elsewhere Surrey have 600+ runs plus a day and a half to bowl Kent out twice.
Weird that Scott Read's commentary is just on the radio and not on the TV stream?!?

Why do we show so little urgency when batting?

Prodding and poking around all morning and now we're going to concede a lead. Well done to whoever thought this one up.
We're always going to find a way to lose with the current management group sadly.

A draw looks favourite with threat of some rain tomorrow. But if Lancashire eke out a lead you there's always a chance.

Bohannon has been out of touch since scoring 231 in the first game of the season against Gloucestershire and really struggled in the recent T20 games he played him. So spending time in the middle building an innings is not a bad thing in my view.

Well in the end we earned a decent enough lead and whilst we didn’t score especially quickly, we at least matched the home side’s efforts. Let’s see if we can make some inroads before the 65 deficit is wiped off.

Gloucs are effectively 34 for 3. One more wicket would have made it interesting but, with the possibility of rain tomorrow, a draw is favourite.

let him play in the 2nds then . Was thinking the same tbh. I thought it was pointless having him in the T20 squad when he either didn't play or opened and looked totally out of touch. I'm not sure what 2nd XI fixtures there were during the T20 games.
There is also the issue if he hadn't played in the Gloucestershire game who would have batted at 3? George Balderson, Steven Croft, Rob Jones? One issue I think we have is that we do not have a reserve top order batsmen. When Jennings was injured earlier this season and the end of last season George Balderson was used as an opener.

Could see him batting at 3 if Bohannon doesn’t improve

Form is temporary, class is permanent is a much-used cliche in sport with good reason. Absurd to suggest Bohannon, a double centurion this season, should be dropped. However, do agree that the structure of the season and his ill fated T20 outings haven't helped him.
